Large file write speeds are slow

Perhaps one of the best advances in the smartphone evolution is the adoption of user-expandable storage (iPhone excluded of course). Lately that means a microSD slot which is capable of supporting up to 16GB of data on something the size of a pinky fingernail.

After getting back from the CTIA Wireless 2006 tradeshow it was obvious that smartphones have been on a diet and that slim is in. The Samsung t509 (below right) is the thinnest phone on the market measuring a mere 0.38 inches thin.

For me, 8 GB is more space than I'm likely ever going to need, and that's the way I like it. I'm a pretty casual user, and this does everything that I want for it to. The adapter that came with it means that I had no problems connecting it to my notebook and using it in multiple devices.

I have had this micro SD card for over a year in my cell phone and it keeps on ticking. I have rewritten various mp3 to the disk over and over and the quality has not diminished. This micro SD card has been used in at least 3 phones with no problems recognizing it.

I bought this for my mother in law's new phone so she could take more pictures with it. Phone immediately recognized it and has been working without an issue since.
