Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver S Review

Kingston's Cloud Revolver S feels great, sounds great, and works with just about any gaming system you can throw at it.

Excellent sound quality; Extremely comfortable; No extra software needed; Easy access controls; Works with virtually any gaming device

Virtual surround limited to USB devices; Mic performance is a bit flat

HyperX Cloud Revolver S

HyperX approach gaming peripherals with a very simple design ethos. Its number one concern is the number one requirement from you, and it's a philosophy that's largely paid off for the relatively young company.

The Cloud Revolver S is unfairly, obscenely comfortable; It's like wearing two sound pillows on your face

Missing the on-ear buttons of a lot of other headsets makes mid-game muting and volume tweaks a bit of a pain

HyperX Cloud Revolver S Headset Review

The HyperX Cloud Revolver S is the latest flagship headset from Kingston's gaming brand. The company is calling this product "the ultimate gaming headset", thanks to improved comfort, new 50mm drivers, and a USB dongle that brings Dolby Surround 7.1 technology to the Cloud Revolver line for the...

Extremely comfortable design; Fantastic sound quality for music, video and gaming; Connects via USB or 3.5mm audio jacks

Dolby 7.1 Surround mode isn't great; Upper-end pricing

HyperX Cloud Revolver S Review: Loud and (Mostly) Clear

The HyperX Cloud Revolver was an impressive gaming headset, offering crisp sound within a cozy, sturdy and cool-looking design. The new Revolver S ($149) retains everything great about its predecessor while adding plug-and-play virtual surround sound and a variety of audio preset options.

Very comfortable; Clear microphone; Strong overall sound quality; Works well with both PCs and consoles

So-so surround sound; A bit pricey

HyperX Cloud Revolver S Virtual Dolby 7.1 Surround Gaming Headset Review

After continuous success in the gaming headset market, HyperX recently launched its Cloud Revolver S gaming headset, a new addition to the lineup. The HyperX Cloud Revolver S is based on the design of the Cloud Revolver and it's bundled with a Plug-N-Play virtual Dolby? Surround 7.1 audio USB...

Sturdy and good looking; Decent sounding headphones; Braided cables; Audio splitter cable included; Better noise isolation than the Cloud Revolver; Better audio control design on the USB soundcard; Fast detection of USB soundcard and no software required for the virtual 7.1 surround; Detachable...

More pressure on the head compared to the previous HyperX Cloud headsets; Microphone still suffers from vocal plosives; Noise isolation still not on par with the HyperX Cloud lineup; Not suitable for those with bigger skull; Rubber coating might not last long at places which is hot and humid...

DESIGN FLAWS - MIC won't keep a connection!

HyperX Cloud Revolver S Gaming Headset with Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. I wanted to like these headphones. I truly did. After all, there is a LOT to like (other than the $149.00 price tag).

Lacking in comfort and surround feature not worth extra $30.

Previously i was using Razer kraken 7.1 and they are 2x cheaper than revolver s, comfort, audio quality were much better on those, however i can say that revolver s really has nice build quality, looks nice.

Better hyper x model for big head users

Very comfy and lightweight. They feel durable and fit tighter than the cloud ii or alphas. They also sound really good used on console. Much better than Sennheiser game zero that I had.

AMAZING!!

For the price I paid, this is honestly an amazing headset. Great step up to the Revolver the metal doesnt make a lot of noise at all.

By far the most amazing sounding headset for the price range; the noise cancellation mic is pretty great as well but I still prefer my external Blue Snowball Mic over it. The Dolby stereo sound does work well in CS GO i can hear the enemy steps really well and the equalizing modes for listening to...

The only weakness would be that it is not wireless or that it doesn't come with extra cups for the ears; and since it is leather your ears will get heated after a long marathon gaming session (5~ 8 hours)
