Review: Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue

The Kingdom Hearts series is unfortunately plagued by weird naming configurations. It started off well enough, but as soon as we first saw 358/2 Days, that was the first sign of things to come. The PS3 HD re-releases were oddly numbered as well with titles like Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5.

I remember when the first Kingdom Hearts game was announced and the Disney/Square Enix (then Squaresoft) crossover was met with more than a few raised eyebrows and a healthy dose of cautious optimism.

"Don't let the convoluted title fool you. It's worth the play, even if you're new to the franchise."

Game Review: Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue

The Kingdom Hearts franchise started life as a curious beast when it released on PlayStation 2 back in 2002. It combined characters from the Final Fantasy franchise with characters from Disney properties and created a fun and, at the time, fresh JRPG experience.

Helps pad out the lore; The bits using the Kingdom Hearts 3 Engine Look Nice; Dream Drop Distance is ported well; A great bundle for series diehards

Voice over work is fairly poor; Gameplay can be lacklustre at points; Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover isn't; Not very accessible to series newcomers

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue

With Kingdom Hearts 3 all but a flickering star on the horizon, Square Enix has worked to ensure that anticipation remains high for the impending third chapter by releasing two back-to-back compilations bursting with content.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Review – The Final Taste Before KH III

I am a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, and as I write this review, I can tell you right now that it's going to be nitpicky. Although I may have criticisms of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 , know that it's because I expect 10/10 from this series, and Kingdom Hearts I, II, and Birth By sleep are full 10s to me.

Amazing Kingdom Hearts gameplay base; Lots of new; enticing story content; Gorgeous graphics; music; and character design

For Kingdom Hearts fans only; $60 for 1 HD remake plus KHIII hype extras; Drop mechanic in Dream Drop Distance is a massive fail

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Review

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is here to bridge that final gap that leads to the much awaited Kingdom Hearts 3.

Overall, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is a title only diehard series fans will find an interest in. The movie can easily be glossed over, Dream Drop Distance is one of the average titles in the series and A Fragmentary Passage , while fun, will only tease you with a new experience...
