Return to form and then some

Best KOF since '99. Best since the bankruptcy. Best EVER?? Uh... Noooo, but... I would NOT argue with someone who said it was their fav. Backgrounds not full sprite/hand drawn , but are amazing again , backed with the detail TOTALLY missing from the last metal slug release... This is a GREAT game.

This Europe ver. is amazing with the poster/movelist. KOF XIII is the KOF who the fans were waiting for. Beautiful sprites, beautiful stages, awesome new soundtrack and incredible variety of combos.

If you like street fighter...dig this.

It plays a lot like Street Fighter. I would recommend using a Fight stick with this game to get the full potential and experience out of this game. The graphics aren't outstanding but that's the least of your worries with this game as it isn't a walk in the park.

The Return of the King

All in all, it's safe to say that The King of Fighters XIII is a welcome entry in a franchise that a lot of people feared might disappear after lackluster sales and a disappointing title.

Fun game with a big selection of characters.

Watching streams of this game is never boring so I decided to try it out myself. Basically really fun and satisfying to pull off some of the longer combos but the learning curve is quite high.

The King of Fighters XIII Review

When we last left The King of Fighters, things weren't looking good. The King of Fighters XII , which was released in 2009, looked beautiful and had a solid fighting system, but its dearth of single-player content and busted online functionally killed it for many players.

Fluid and flexible fighting mechanics; Impressive visuals and smooth animations; Stable online play with replay support; Numerous offline offerings; Character color customization

Online spectating isn't an option; Lacks replay sharing

Review: King of Fighters XIII for PS3

When you think about it, King of Fighters XIII is kind of ironic. A really good game and one of the best, recent entries in the King of Fighters series, but still. SNK Playmore has been known for its fighting games for years, since back when arcades were where it was at.

1 on 1 and 3 on 3 battles; nine gameplay modes; the story mode has visual novel segments; character sprites and environments look awesome; there's online and offline multiplayer and there are 33 characters available

You need 2,500,000 points in arcade mode by the end of the sixth regular match to move onto the two boss battles; Unlocking two of the characters in arcade mode is a bit random; The Tutorial mode isn't very helpful.

good for more ground fighting over blaze blue screen hopping.

a great 2d fighter- nice feel of the attacts but getting to grips with the finer arts might seem frustrating- just get to now the basic supers and i'm happy. would have been nice to refine the character dialogue to be more appealing to watch rather than skip. great character color customisation.

The king of fighters was always a well known and beloved fighting series, starting in 1994. As an snk fan since long forgotten times, these series always had a special place in my fighting spirit. And saying that kof XIII is a bad game is to fail to understand these beloved series.
