Great sound-bought as a gift
Should you buy the JBL Clip+? If you are in the market for an ultra-portable speaker and one which is very well-priced, then you should definitely consider the JBL Clip+. While this is a speaker that is designed to be used when out and about, there are a number of prime places you will find for the...
JBL has done little to upgrade its original Clip Bluetooth speaker—aside from a splash-proof, washable design, the $49.95 Clip+ is very similar to its predecessor. But the Clip ($49.95 at Adorama) was already a winner, and being splash-proof is a big deal as summer approaches. For the price, it's hard to find a more outdoor-friendly, solid-sounding speaker, so like its predecessor, the Clip+ earns our Editors' Choice award. DesignAvailable in a number of colors including black, blue, gray, orange, red, green, yellow, and pink, the circular Clip+ doesn't have much room for flare in its design. It measures 4.2 by 3.5 by 1.7 inches, and weighs a modest 5.3 ounces. The JBL Clip+ Bluetooth speaker delivers a very solid audio experience for the price—in a splash-proof, outdoor-friendly design.
Impressive audio performance for the size and price; Splash-proof and washable design; Fastens on to straps for easily portability; Built-in speakerphone
Flirts with distortion on some deep bass tracks; Aux cable is hardwired—and therefore useless if it gets damaged
The JBL Clip+ looks almost identical to the company's earlier Clip micro Bluetooth speaker -- and sounds the same -- but has one small feature addition, as the plus sign in its name indicates.
JBL's Clip+ takes an already well-designed, travel-friendly and affordable Bluetooth speaker and adds water resistance.
The JBL Clip+ Bluetooth speaker is a compact, hockey-puck size speaker that has a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery, offers decent enough sound for its size, and is water-resistant. It also has an integrated line-in cable that stows away in the bottom of the device, as well as speakerphone capabilities.
It doesn't handle big bass well and distorts at higher volumes. It isn't fully waterproof.
