Heat and power consumption was my primary concern when I provisioned a couple of Supermicro 2U Twin (Squared) servers that allows for 4 dual-socket nodes (motherboards) within a 2U chassis. The E5620 was 2/3rds cheaper, but at 80W and only 4 cores, it couldn't match the L5640's 6 cores at 60W.

Ordered two CPU's for a server build; Shocked they were both shipped in a CPU cradle without being in a static bag; PSU blew immediately on power up; RMA'd the PSU, returned the CPU's; Not sure is the PSU was defective or the CPU's had something to do with it.
