Nice CPU to go with RTX 2060
Upgraded from a FX-6350, the improvement was amazing as expected from Intel. I dont overclock, so stock cooler will work fine. Used mainly for AAA gaming and light productivity work. I have it paired with a 1080 graphics card.
I bought this (and an ASUS TUF B360M-E GAMING motherboard) to replace my i5 7400, which was bottlenecking my GPU. The 9400F upgrade had a shockingly positive effect on my FPS in BATTLETECH, Assassin's Creed Origins and Deus Ex Mankind Divided, increasing 0.1% lows by around 50%. With my 7400, when in cities in AC:O, my system would drop to 30-45 FPS. With the 9400F this no longer happens, FPS drops to 65, with very rare drops to 55 FPS. I had hoped for a 5-10% improvement, the reality of this upgrade has blown me away. PB Tech staff kindly offered to install the CPU into the motherboard for me, which I appreciated. OK .. so this is a GREAT value CPU . BUT Make sure 2 things :::: A.You have own graphics card B. Get a motherboard that is compatible to it out of the box (B365 works a treat! and very affordable) without needing to flash bios to upgrade (I fell for this problem and bought a B360 and had to delay getting up and running by getting a new MB B365 as in lock-down getting access to a Gen 8 CPU just to flash MB is just too hard.) Now that it has been running for 2-3 days... works amazing... even under heaviest of loads temp with the factory fan does not go above 75C good luck.. hope this helps someone :)
very good cpu. enough cores to multitask very good for gaming one of the best value cpus on the market does not have integrated graphics though so thats a downside however i have a gpu so it doesnt really matter to me
Benchmark says it's the cats whiskers a nuclear sub, works great.
