Huawei Watch GT

As far as looks go, the Huawei Watch GT incorporates touches of modern style into a timeless watch design. As far as operation goes, it's as smart and as innovative as any watch on the market. Huawei call it their finest waterproof watch to date, and here's why!

Slim and stylish

The Huawei Watch GT catches the eye with a classic round dial with ceramic bezel, stainless steel shell and DLC coating. While slim and sleek, the design is robust and boasts 50 metre waterproof construction to emphasise how durable it is.

Super sharp display

The Huawei Watch GT outstrips many of its rivals in the easy-to-read stakes thanks to a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with 454 x 454 pixels resolution at 326ppi pixel density. All those numbers add up to a crystal-clear display.

A heart-monitoring wrist-watch

The GT gives you real time heart rate monitoring through a self-learning algorithm and some of the most innovative sensors on the market.

Having trouble sleeping?

Help might be at hand as HUAWEI TruSleep 2.0 identifies common sleep related issues. Better still, it gives you more than 200 potential solutions.

Spectacular specs

The specs on the Watch GT include GPS/GLONASS/GALILEO, Bluetooth, accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer sensors, optical heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, barometer sensor, loudspeaker, and, as you'd expect in this day and age, multiple sports modes. You can also see notifications including messages, phone calls, alarms, plus you can set reminders.

A powerful first

The Huawei Watch GT integrates the first double chipset architecture and this gives you two weeks of life from the super-efficient 420mAh battery. The device also features 128MB internal storage and 16MB RAM for excellent, speedy performance.

Huawei Watch GT Review – A Device For The Occasion

The Huawei Watch GT is one of the best fitness trackers I've used to date. It's both sleek-looking and functional.

GPS-enabled tracking; Great battery life; VO2Max sensor; Touchscreen interface; Value for money

No 3rd-party apps; Some missing features

Huawei Watch GT review: Battery brilliance comes with some compromise

In previous years the Huawei Watch has been home to several Android Wear smartwatch releases. With the Watch GT, however, the Chinese giant has produced a watch that runs its own operating system – similar in approach to the Samsung Gear and Apple Watch range.

Long battery life; Great screen; Information is well organised; Great all-round performance

Lacking in features; Screen doesn't have always-on mode; Low refresh rate makes animations stutter; Needs more apps and third-party support

Huawei Watch GT Review: Life After Android

In our Huawei Watch GT Review, we explore the pros and cons of buying a wearable device in a post-WearOS market. It's time to move beyond the basics in the smartwatch world – or at least that's what the Huawei Watch GT believes.

Industrial design on-point; No WearOS; Relatively affordable; Smartwatch battery life basically unmatched

No tap-to-pay services; No WearOS; No 3rd-party app access

Huawei Watch GT review: Now just £140

Overall the Huawei Watch GT is an impressive wearable. It looks the part, it's comfortable to wear, the screen looks great, activity tracking works well – and battery life is stunning.

Amazing battery life; Comfortable and stylish; Has GPS and heart rate monitor

Limited third-party service support; Sleep tracking is patchy

Huawei Watch GT review

There are holes in the Huawei Watch GT. But it is also just about the best watch out there for those who want something that looks smart in the day, but has the exercise tracking skills to satisfy real run training. That this is also matched with just about the best battery life seen in a watch with a screen this bright and punchy seems almost like magic. Just make sure you’re ready for the limitations. You can’t choose from thousands of watch faces, download apps or even control music played on your phone. However, what it can do is handled well. And not having to charge every week, let alone every day, is bliss.

Superb battery life; Smart looks; Great run tracking;

It’s begging for music support; No extra apps; Baked-in watch faces only; Huawei app needs either more depth or fun;

Huawei Watch GT review: Battery brilliance comes with some compromise

The Watch GT has so much potential. With its fantastic OLED display and all the hardware you could need to track virtually any activity, it's an ideal modern fitness partner. However, low frame-rate and no always-on display are limiting factors as a result of the long battery life.

Long battery life; Great screen; Information is well organised; Great all-round performance;

Lacking in features; Screen doesn't have always-on mode; Low refresh rate makes animations stutter; Needs more apps and third-party support;

Huawei Watch GT: can't do much, but maybe that's a good thing

Even when I just first started using the Watch GT, it was already clear to me what conclusion I would reach: the watch is pleasant to wear and doesn't have many functions, but it has an extremely strong battery that it almost doesn't matter to me how little the watch can do.

Extremely long battery life; Comfortable to wear; Easy to use

Not many features on Lite OS; Jerky performance; Notifications are often useless

Huawei Watch GT review

Huawei has dropped the Wear OS software it normally runs on its smartwatches, instead switching to its own OS – and that's mostly to the detriment of the Watch GT. That said, the battery life and price of the Watch GT will make it an appealing choice for some.

Incredible battery life; Solid design; Affordable price

No third-party app access; Not built for contactless payments; Limited phone app
