Huawei first showed off the Huawei Watch 2 (herein the HW2) in Barcelona back in February, when it debuted alongside the Huawei P10 at Mobile World Congress. I eagerly rushed to the booth to get some hands on time, only to be disappointed, finding that most of the devices were tethered to security...

Love it so far - still learning all that it can do. I had one issue with the Messenger app always telling me to install it on the phone, but it was already there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I don't blame the phone, I blame the Messenger app.

As a smartwatch that will deal well with sports, the Huawei Watch 2 is actually pretty good.

Imagine Huawei would have just revamped its simple, but slick, original Wear watch. Imagine an original Huawei Watch with Android Wear 2.0 out of the box, packing NFC for Android Pay, GPS for run tracking and a better battery life. That's what we wanted from the Huawei Watch 2.

Early last year I checked out the Huawei Watch. It was Huawei's debut smartwatch, and the Chinese company went for style, using metal builds with colors like gold to try to create a smartwatch that would actually look good with a nice outfit. I wasn't totally convinced.

And yet we can't recommend the Huawei Watch 2 unequivocally. Android Wear lags behind watchOS in the app department and it just isn't intuitive to use. And the watch itself is big and bulky, limiting your abilities for all-day wear.
