Great phone - but don't expect any meaningful backup from retailer

To me, a product without backup isn't a product worth buying. At least that's how I see technology products. AND that backup has to be "timely". Warehouse Stationery clearly has some good prices, but that's because those "good prices" are for products long past their "sell by" dates in other stores -- which this phone really is, and the price isn't that good!! Other retailers are also trying to sell those same products "cheaply" for the same reason. If you don't mind this, then you must ask yourself "what sort of backup can I get, for a product long past its "sell by" date? Will the store (a) know how to go about sending the product away; (b) will they send it away to the RIGHT place; (c) what sort of constraints on getting the product repaired, or does it need to be replaced instead -- not easy for a product past its sell-by date; AND will they be reliable in following up a product that's been handed in for "repair"; (d) will they be reliable in getting back in touch with me when they receive information from the repairer when they get it -- that's right, from the repairer -- the manufacturer may no longer offer "repairs" for the same reason they no longer offer replacements -- they no longer have stock available on products long past their "sell-by" dates; (e) if repairs are not deemed to be "under warranty", at what price will repairs be available -- especially since the same product will have been superseded by other products, often resulting in better products being available for the same price or less than the cost of repairs. Giving two points for each of these, Warehouse Stationery failed recently to satisfy any one of the criteria -- I sent in my G300 for repair -- no response in two weeks -- they'd spent the time trying to figure out how to send in a repair -- the person had never done it before; two more weeks later, I learned that they'd sent it away to the wrong place, and had to send it away again; two more weeks later (6 weeks after sending it in initially) I was told the phone was not covered by warranty -- a technicality unadvised to me in the Owner's Manual, or at time of purchase! That if I wanted it to be repaired, it would take at least another 6 weeks -- parts weren't available and had to be requested from overseas -- all up costing much more than "current model" phones which had become available -- better and cheaper. So, was "backup" available-- not one of the criteria were satisfied, so they really deserve "0" but 1 is the lowest score possible on this system. Don't bother with this phone - get the Y300 (NOT the 310) instead - do a comparison on sortable.com
