At $250, £180 or AU$300, it's incredibly affordable -- it costs about the same as some high-end devices with a contract. In the US, you can purchase it directly from Huawei's online store or other retailers like Amazon.

The Huawei P8 Lite's affordable unlocked price is compelling, but the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is a much better deal.

The P8 lite is not the most inexpensive phone on the market today. For example, Motorola's Moto G also offers a 5-in. LCD display but with a slower processor, less memory and without LTE capabilities for $180. So it all depends on what you're looking for. In this case, Huawei's foray into the U.S.

The Huawei P8 is an amazing piece of kit, with a great build quality, an amazing camera, great sound quality and a degree of flexibility thanks to the various slots and ports. The big but here though is the software.

Huawei is getting serious with the P8, delivering some high-end specifications at a mid-range price. Breaking away from its Ascend series, Huawei has gone for a plainer moniker with the P8 but the design is anything but.
