Game Review: Halo Wars 2

Halo Wars 2 takes place in the year 2559, 28 years after the events of the original Halo Wars . When you and your crew awake from cryosleep on the UNSC Spirit of Fire, you soon discover that a lot has changed and despite the UNSC forces sacrifice in the Covenant war, humanities existence is still...

Easy to pick-up and play; Feels natural on the controller; Highly detailed maps; Decent story; Sublime soundtrack

Not as tactical as most PC alternatives; Many missions lack genuine strategy

Halo Wars 2 (Xbox One) Snapshot Review

Halo Wars 2 answers a call that went out almost as soon as the original game dropped on the Xbox 360. I'm happy to say that it's a nice, solid sequel too, managing to do almost everything right. The game looks good, sounds great, and plays as well as any RTS ever has on a console.

The campaign took about 8 hours and that killer story hooked me more than the gameplay. Maybe it's because of how I'm conditioned to play console games but this RTS didn't grab me like other games in the genre have.

Halo Wars 2 is a very accessible RTS that's easy to pick up and play, but becomes increasingly complex as you get to grips with its more advanced commands. Assuming you're willing to invest the time and effort to truly master its intricate controls, the game offers plenty to get your teeth into.

Halo Wars 2 is not a bad game, but it just fails to do anything that really makes it excel and a must play. The Blitz multiplayer mode is an interesting innovation, but not enough to stop the campaign leaving a slight tinge of disappointment with the package overall.

Despite the peace with the Covenant, the co-development team needed to find a way for everyone to fight each other again, and they did it with a rogue faction called "The Banished," and by...

Halo Wars 2 review

Halo Wars 2 does an incredible job of ensuring console players can enjoy the RTS genre and there's certainly a lot of content here, but it's difficult to get really excited about any of it.

Halo Wars 2 Review

will scratch a real-time strategy itch and give you a dose of Halo-Universe flavor with a decent story, but it won't go much deeper than that. A run-of-the-mill campaign, controls that hamper micromanagement, conspicuous bugs, and multiplayer that relies on luck limit its long-term appeal, but its...
