Last year, 343 Industries and Microsoft brought us Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This compilation gave players Halo 1-4, alongside the first-time ever Anniversary Edition of Halo 2. It allowed folks like myself who got into the series thanks to multiplayer to dive into the story.
In its 14 years, Halo has never felt so good to play. An updated arsenal and great new mobility mechanics give both campaign and multiplayer and modern touch without sacrificing Halo's classic feel.

My well-used ears do seem to want the higher volume levels of the M80 on the Xbox One, but the ultimately, when chat gets added into the mix, the A40 + M80 delivers with an audible online experience worthy of the ASTRO Gaming namesake.
Any worry that Halo might be in the wrong hands with 343 Industries has been wiped out by Halo 5: Guardians. The campaign has some story issues, with Halo 6 promising to really deliver the goods, but the design is impeccable, and will certainly warrant multiple playthroughs.

The story campaign is a mild disappointment but the multiplayer is a bold reinvention of the Halo experience, that should keep the series fresh for years to come.
The new movement system is excellent, and works well in all three modes; Arena mode is the most fun Halo has been in years and Warzone is also very good
In construction the campaign mode is strictly average, including the weak story; Small number of new vehicles and weapons; No offline multiplayer
There's a lot riding on Halo 5: Guardians . Halo 4 was good, but it felt like the perfect forgery, not the genuine article, just a really well crafted imitation. So close in fact that you almost couldn't tell, but in the end its lack of authenticity made itself known.
