Review: HTC ChaCha
"It's a Facebook BlackBerry": my answer to the almost inevitable "what the hell is that?" question I'd get every time I pulled out the HTC ChaCha to check my email or get some directions. I took the ChaCha with me to the USA recently as my local phone. That's my M.O.

HTC ChaCha review: an affordable, Facebook-friendly smartphone
Sit down on a train, ferry or bus, and odds are you'll see someone, head down, thumbing frantically away at the keyboard of a BlackBerry.

HTC ChaCha review
If you don't use Facebook, look away now. The whole design of HTC's ChaCha revolves around the social network. The well-spaced keys are laid out in four rows. The keyboard sports dedicated keys for frequently used punctuation marks. The arrow keys are unusually placed on the lower left side of the keyboard. A dedicated Facebook button is present below the fourth row.
Pros:
- Great Facebook integration
- Thoughtful UI
- Physical QWERTY keypad
- Sturdy build
Cons:
- Disappointing camera
- Lacklustre video player
- No equaliser
- Many apps are incompatible

HTC Status review
While the Status can be fun and offers a quality keyboard, the software makes typing a pain. What's more, several apps don't display correctly on that tiny screen.
Pros:
- Excellent keyboard
- Facebook integration is fun and useful
- Reasonable price
Cons:
- Sense is buggy and lacks polish
- Many third-party apps won't display properly
- Disappointing battery life

A brief look at the HTC ChaCha
I had a brief playtime with the HTC ChaCha Android smartphone last week, and thought I'd post some vital statistics about the device and pictures that I took. In hand, the ChaCha gives the impression of a well-built device. It felt really sturdy.

HTC ChaCha Review
A true middleman, the HTC ChaCha sits right between the Samsung Galaxy Pro on the lower-end and the HTC Desire Z at the top. It's a QWERTY + touchscreen – a combination that was once rare.
Pros:
- Excellent QWERTY keypad and angled design makes typing more comfortable
- Well built
Cons:
- Battery life is a disappointment
- Facebook button doesn't do much
