HP Scanjet Enterprise Flow 5000 s2 Sheet-feed Scanner Review
The next step up in HP's document scanner line from the HP Scanjet Pro 3000 s2 Sheet-feed Scanner($699.99 at Amazon), the HP Scanjet Enterprise Flow 5000 s2 Sheet-feed Scanner delivers only slightly faster scans, but stands ready for heavier duty use. Among other differences, it has double the recommended daily duty cycle of the HP 3000 s2, at 2,000 pages, and can scan a wider range of paper weights, at a recommend 11 to 56 pound weight. The result is a potentially good fit for a small to mid-size office or workgroup with heavy-duty scan needs.
The 5000 s2 adds some other extras compared with the 3000 s2 as well. Although its automatic document feeder (ADF) delivers the same 50-sheet capacity for example, it can scan a larger paper size, at up to 8.5 by 122 inches. It also offers a modest boost in its rated speed, to 25 pages per minute (ppm) for simplex (single-sided) scans and 50 images per minute (ipm) for duplex (double-sided) scans, with one image on each side of the page.
