No, I would not recommend this to a friend

HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One-C410
I have previously used HP printers; however the Quality of HP printers has greatly diminished in the last couple of years. I would never purchase an HP printer in the future. They are now very cheaply made. Poor quality. Cannot recommend.
Pros:

Cons:
- Document feeder skips copies
- Paper tray defaults to Photo tray
- cannot reset on computer
- Faxes to outside source are incomplete
- Print Head defective
- frequent cleaning often says out of ink when not

Just Awful
This is the worst printer I have ever purchased/ had the displeasure of using. The customer support is also the worst I have ever experienced - having been sent 2 replacements due to the product not working (at all) I still received rude and clueless "support".

I had another one of these printers that I bought 5 or more years ago that quit working. Best printer I ever owned. I was happy to replace it but the price was insane, more than double what if originally sold for.

Seriously flawed software.
I now find that many others are having the same networking issues. The only work around until recently was to unplug the machine and wait for it to re-attach to the network - ironically you get a little nasty message on the printer that scolds you for unplugging the device.
Pros:
- When it is working (rarely) it works as advertised - nothing outstanding
Cons:
- Constantly loses network connectivity on all four of our family computers and I've spent HOURS AND HOURS installing, reinstalling software and troubleshooting this defective machine
- In addtion, it is an outrageously expensive ink cost per page

We did experience some sporadic networking problems, with an all Mac network, with this printer before we switched back to our Apple Time Capsule. Once back with the Time Capsule we have had no problems.

The picture quality is low. But that is minor to what I have been through. I have windows 7 home premium and tried 4 times to get this to install. First of all there are no instructions on how to load paper, photo tray, install cartridges. I managed to get that done with no help from HP.

this device can send and get faxes. this is the special advantage of this printer, can enjoy low print costs too and print copy scan features also there.
