Great Printer for our small offer

This printer is amazingly fast for a non laser. When we first set it up, the quality of color was NOT good, and we feared that buying it was a mistake despite its speed. However, with the right paper (anything with "ColorLok" seems to work), the colors are great.

I'm using this printer in my home for both personal and business use. We have several computers and the wireless feature works great, even on separate floors. This printer set up easily right out of the box. It took about 10 - 15 minutes to initialize the print cartridges.

HP PageWide Pro 552dw Printer

The PageWide Pro 552dw Printer ($699) is the top-of-the-line model in HP's first-generation of PageWide printers. The new designation comes from the inkjet printer technology inside, which uses a printhead that measures the width of the page.

Fast; Low running cost; High paper capacity; Touch-screen controls; Integrates Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and NFC; Prints from a USB key, mobile devices, through the cloud

Text on paper can smudge if it gets wet; Colors in photos printed on plain paper are a little dull

HP's second-generation, print-only PageWide inkjet is fast, the quality is exceptional, and the cost per page is very low (with the right ink tanks). Our only real quibble is with the initial purchase price.

Sharp print quality for business use; Exceptional print speeds; Highly competitive cost per page (with right ink tanks; Loaded with mobile features; Multiple expansion options

A bit pricey

Super fast, doublesided printing good, FAILS

Paid full price for 3 of these. We've had them fail far too regularly. The cleaning cycles don't work, and use too much ink, when the only thing that clogs is the black. HP support had no recommendations. No one services them that we could find. Time to look at more robust laser printers. Too bad.

My 552dw printer freezes after printing medium to large documents. After the print job is complete, it does not respond via the browser interface nor the control panel on the printer. The on/off switch does not respond. The only solution is to pull out the plug and plug it in again.

HP PageWide Pro 552dw Printer Review

The PageWide Pro 552dw Printer ($699) is the top-of-the-line model in HP's first-generation of PageWide printers. The new designation comes from the inkjet printer technology inside, which uses a printhead that measures the width of the page. The design delivers extraordinary speed for an inkjet, along with laser-quality text and graphics. That, plus a higher paper capacity than most inkjets, puts the 552dw($699.89 at Amazon) squarely in competition with lasers. More important, it offers enough make it our Editors' Choice printer for up to heavy duty use in a small office. The 552dw is actually one of HP's second generation of single-function, desktop printers based on PageWide technology. The first generation—which use Officejet rather than PageWide in the name—includes the HP Officejet Pro X551dw Printer ( at Amazon) , which is another top pick. The 552dw is in the process of replacing the older model at this writing, and it's a step up in many ways. In particular, it delivere...

The HP PageWide Pro 552dw Printer uses inkjet technology, but competes directly with lasers designed for small to midsize offices. It delivers excellent speed, ample paper capacity, and laser-quality text.
