HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Review

Printers are a dime a dozen these days, even all-in-ones. It wasn't too long ago that you could get a free printer with your new Mac. Competition aside, we judged the HP Officejet 6700 Premium on a number of counts, and it passed almost all with flying colors.

It works for all of my Windows 8 machines which includes Surface RT. The software CD came with it can't be installed on Windows 8 but you can get the HP Printer Control app and the HP Scan and capture to transfer the scanned image to you PC without using a USB memory stick pugged into the printer.

This well-built, economically priced inkjet all-in-one for small offices is fast, and it churns out great prints, copies, and scans. A too-high cost of consumables reduces its overall value, however.

Exceptional print; copy; and scan quality; Fast performance; Sturdy; quiet operation

High cost per page; No PictBridge support; Lacks flash-card slots for direct printing

very easy to use

Overall very happy with my purchase. I use it for school right now but hopefully will be able to use for many more years. The only reason I did not score an excellent on value of price is because I had to buy a cable that SHOULD have been included.

fast and good quality for documents

kind of big and did not come with USB to connect to computer

Compact do it all printer - perfect for home offices

The printer speed is excellent and automatic double sided printing is a real plus at this price. I've used the AirPrint feature to print from my iPhone and iPad which is really neat (no drivers needed!). You can also print by sending the printer an email which is quite cool.

It works sometime but more often then not, freezes so I have to unplug it to get it going. Sometimes it doesn not communicate with computer and sometimes it does. On many occasions had to cancel print job because it could not communicate with printer.

Great WHEN it works

Freezes; Hard To Use; Unreliable

The HP Officejet 6700 Premium would make a solid addition to a home office or be great shared among a small workgroup.

Improved print speeds; Web services; Ease of use

HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One

In many ways, the HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One ($169.99 direct) is the little brother of the Editors' Choice HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One ($299.99 direct, 4.5 stars), which costs a lot more, and the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One ($199.99 direct, 4.5 stars), which costs only...

HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-In-One

The HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One colour inkjet multifunction (print/scan/copy/fax) offers many impressive capabilities, especially considering its affordable price of just $279.

Peppy print speed; low colour costs with high-yield supplies

Pricey standard-size black ink; mediocre print quality on plain paper
