I bought this one instead of the M283fdn not because I need WiFi just now but incase circumstances change and I relocate the printer away from where it currently is which is right next to the network router. So my review is of this printer plugged into the ethernet of my home office network. Once plugged in it just worked. I use Apple Mac's and my desktop, laptop, iphone and ipad could all see it on the network and adding it was very easy on all devices. On Macs just open the Settings App and select Printers & Scanners. Click the + in the bottom left corner. Done. I wanted to use the scanner straight away. We always buy HP but this printer has driven me up the wall with continual error messages "Printer Offline". Initially it loaded up fine but then errors started. I have tried the online fixes, HP helplines, reloaded the driver and used the printer help software even had an expert look at it. With a new HP laptop and a new HP printer my expectations was that setup be seamless. Sorry to rant but please DO NOT Buy this printer. HP need to sort out their software issues.

Have only had it for a couple of weeks but so far am happy with the product. Easy to connect and install and good quality printing, although the quality of colour photos isn't very high. It does what it needs to do me - light duty printing, scanning and photocopying.

I have used many laser printers but keep coming back to HP for reliability, and affordability of consumables. For a small office/home office this printer is one of the best. Do not confuse with the M283FDN though which does not allow for printing from your phone/tablet. This version the M283FDW does allow it.

It's still early days, but so far this has been an ideal printer. I upgraded from using an inkjet so by comparison, this delivers good quality, fast prints. love the mobile app, very easy to use and remotely print from your phone.

I have been working with HP printers, both professional models at work and home printers, for 35 years, and I have never been disappointed by the value for the price. We just bought this printer for home and it basically set itself up. We have no issues printing to it over Wi-Fi from Windows-based computers or iPhones. As a tech guy during the pandemic, I've been doing a lot of support for home users -- the problem is almost always the home Wi-Fi setup. Make sure your home Wi-Fi is solid, before you blame your devices. Also, the default method to install the printer at home for Windows involves WSD; think of this as the "lowest common denominator". You might be better served by setting a static port and specifying other settings -- tech jargon, I know, but see if you can find someone who understands it and can determine if this is better for you. (I have tried other brands of printers, and frankly, have been unimpressed.)
