HP EliteBook 850 G5 (i5-8250U, FHD) Laptop Review

Verdict: The HP EliteBook 850 G5 is a top-class business notebook that has convinced us in many areas. The most important changes compared to the previous model: Finally, there are no more TN LCDs with instable viewing angles.
Pros: high-quality metal case, IPS display with high brightness, good port selection and security features, remains very cool and quiet, three-year warranty, very good glass touchpad
Cons: PointStick is worse than TrackPoint, no SD card reader, display is far away from 100% sRGB, bad speakers

HP EliteBook 850 G5 Core i7-8650U 512GB 15.6in

Verdict: Combination of RAM, PCIe SSD and processor make this laptop fairly fast for a mid-range laptop. At $1600, it performs like a $2200 laptop.

Well built laptop

Verdict: Bought this laptop earlier in Jan to replace my aging 4540s probook, which has served me well since 2013. I got the 400 nits brightness IPS screen and oh man it looks great! Note that upgrading the brightness actually gives you a better screen with increased color coverage (sRGB) vs the base model.

Artifically inflated regular price. Buyer Beware.

Verdict: The "original" price for this laptop is nowhere near $2,800. By checking this part number on many other websites, you'll quickly find that this system's MSRP is $1,890 (and most laptops are sold under MSRP).
Pros: - Great system. Elitebooks are fairly robust and deliver consistent performance on the higher-end models
Cons: - Artificially inflated MSRP/Regular price
