HP LaserJet Enterprise M653x

If your application calls for fast, good-looking photos, too, you should consider one of the HP PageWide inkjet models, such as the 750dw or the much less-expensive 556dn; or perhaps even the Editors' Choice Dell S5840cdn, though its color photo output quality isn't quite up to that of those inkjet...

Very fast; Good overall print quality; Strong paper-input capacity; Very-high-yield toner cartridges; Customizable control panel; Memory is upgradeable to 2GB; Optional hard drive

Expensive; Running costs can be high; Subpar photo output; Software and driver installation via the web is problematic

Failed right out of the box

Just bought this printer, pulled it out of the box and plugged it in. Made 15 attempts to print the configuration page and printer supply page from the menu and it jammed every time. Had to replace a CP4025 because it wouldn't work with windows 10 and HP doesn't have a driver for new OS.

Easy Set up, Great Quality!

Had our printer about a month. We had the thing up and running in under 5 minutes. Has taken on all sorts of jobs, labels, proposals, 2-sided, color pages, doublewide postcards, it does everything and it does it well.

HP's LaserJet Pro laser printers are designed primarily to support small-to-medium-size offices, workgroups, and businesses consisting of about five or so users. In many ways—high print quality, high maximum-duty cycles, and expandability—these two LaserJet brands are often similar. The Enterprise machines, however, are typically faster; they come with significantly higher recommended monthly print volumes, access to higher-yield toner cartridges that deliver lower running costs, and, of course higher purchase prices. The M653x ($2,149.99 at HP) provides all that and more, but given its high price, slightly too-high cost per page, and subpar photo output, it comes up a bit short to make it a top pick mid-to-heavy volume color laser printer for larger...

HP's LaserJet Enterprise M653x prints terrific-looking text and graphics, and so-so photos, at an impressive clip, but its running costs are a bit high—especially for such a pricey color laser printer.
