Google Chromecast 3 review: The same old with a better new

4.0
Verdict: Google was pretty silent about the launch of this 3rd generation Chromecast, probably because there is nothing much and new that they could boast about. However, the Chromecast is one single device that can still change the way you can look at content differently on your standard or regular large...

Google Chromecast 2018

3.6
Verdict: Have a spare 30-odd bucks to spend on a media streamer The world is your oyster, friend. The budget streaming market is packed with great choices that offer simple on-screen TV menus, hassle-free access to Netflix, Amazon Video and YouTube and dedicated remote controls with voice.
Pros: The super-affordable Chromecast streams Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, HBO Now and thousands of other apps and games to your TV using an smartphone, PC or even voice as the controller. It hides neatly behind your TV
Cons: The lack of a dedicated remote means you always need a smartphone, tablet or PC nearby to use it. Competitors at the same price offer physical remotes and onscreen displays, which are easier to use. There still no app support for Amazon Prime Video

Chromecast 2018 review: A cheap way to make your TV smart

5.0
Verdict: In truth, there's very little to get excited about with the new Chromecast – the addition of 1080p 60fps streaming is hardly worth shouting about – but that doesn't stop it from being one of the cheapest and best ways to add smart functionality to a TV or monitor.
Pros: Cheap, Works with lots of apps, Google Home integration
Cons: No UI or physical remote, No 4K support

Chromecast (2018) review: Google's revamped media streamer is what you make of it

Cons: No infrared control for TV volume or A/V gear, The Google Home app is bad at aggregating and searching for content, Pausing or adjusting volume by...

Google Chromecast (3rd Generation)

4.0
Verdict: The latest Google Chromecast is still a good buy for anyone looking for a simple, affordable streaming option, but if you already have a second-gen model, you should pass.
Pros: Quick and easy setup, Affordable, Casting from phone to TV still dirt-simple
Cons: Few upgrades over previous model, Does not automatically pause videos for calls, Amazon video not Cast-compatible

Google Chromecast (3rd-gen) is official because Best Buy sold one a week early

No reviews
Verdict: The second-generation is nearly three-years-old now, and Google has decided that now's the right time to give it a (very minor) makeover. So how do you improve on close-to-perfection

Google Chromecast (2018)

3.5
Verdict: The Google Chromecast is still one of the most affordable ways to stream media to your TV, but it's also showing its age. This new version doesn't add anything new or present any significant upgrade beyond a nicer case.
Pros: Inexpensive. Responsive. Lots of supported apps. Can mirror mobile device screens and display Chrome tabs
Cons: 1080p maximum resolution. No on-screen interface or remote

Google Chromecast (2018) review

5.0
Verdict: The new Chromecast is much like the old Chromecast, but that's no bad thing The Chromecast is a great product that's clever on the engineering side but simple to use. Some might not like the lack of a physical remote, but that's part and parcel of the Chromecast experience – and there are lots of...
Pros: Affordable, Casting is neat, Good video and sound
Cons: Little new of note, No dedicated remote, No Amazon Video

Google Chromecast (3rd Generation)

Verdict: The original Google Chromecast was introduced in 2013 and was an inexpensive and convenient way to stream content to your TV. The Chromecast 2 followed in 2015 and enjoyed a rather long shelf life.

Google Chromecast (3rd Generation)

5.0
Verdict: My older phones had easy ways to connect video output to HDMI, and then to a large TV screen. My current phone does not support MHL output, and does not have a micro HDMI port, so Chromecast is the ONLY way to display the screen contents of my phone on an alternate screen according to manufacturer's...

Google Chromecast (3rd Generation)

5.0
Pros: Quite an improvement from the 2nd gen CC. Full HD streaming should suit most home needs. Good value for money :-
Cons: When I cast from my mobile, it doesn't automatically switch to the CC HDMI input - this wasn't the case with CC2

Small but perfectly formed

5.0
Verdict: I bought one of these to use with my smart TV so that I could stream Disney Life, however we're now using instead of the smart features as it's much smoother. Have also bought a second one for my daughters bedroom.

Great Item to have on your television

5.0
Verdict: My daughter showed me her Chromecast a year and and it was interesting. Bought one to try and love it. The ability to transfer images, videos, etc from your phone/tablet/computer is an amazing thing and especially makes watching you tube videos enjoyable.

Start of a revolution

4.0
Verdict: I think Google does great thing with their Chromecast product. They are easy to use and stream with ease. You get really get something as cheap as this that works as well as it does. Just know it doesn't come with a remote. Your phone or tablet etc. with the Google program is your remote.
Pros: Easy to Use, good sound quality, Good Value

Google home products are great

Google Chromecast - Good, but was even better!

5.0
Verdict: This is a good piece of kit and easy to set up using android and IOS BUT in their infinite wisdom Google have now removed the PC App download so you can no longer use this to stream from a windows laptop or PC. This is a backward step in my view.
