God of War II: Divine Retribution

God of War II is a lot. It's the sequel of the second (if not) best action game on the PS2. It's one of the last big releases on PS2. It's one of the most bloody and furious games currently on the market.

God of War II

When God of War hit the PlayStation 2 in 2005, the game became an immediate hit, with its great presentation, fun gameplay, gruesome combat, and badass lead character. As great as the original was, there is only one possible way the sequel could go, and that's down, right?

GOW:Ascension Review

This is the best GOW title I have played compared to the previous titles. It is well worth the $$ spent on this game. With upcoming DLC possibly story related and the MP being fun this game is a winner.

God of War: Ascension

God of War: Ascension starts off a little slow compared to the other entries in the series but it ultimately does ramp up to something you'd expect from Santa Monica studios. This entry takes you through Kratos' past, revealing more of what happened before the first game.

+ Gorgeous graphics; wonderful cutscenes; + The same sense of beautiful destruction you have come to expect; + Deep elemental combat system despite lack of new weapons in single player; + Incredibly unique and interesting multiplayer

- Secondary weapons are useful but feel rigid and kind of forced; - Non-linearity of the story takes away from the total package; - Slow start compared to the rest of the series

God of War: Ascension

God of War: Ascension delivers you the origin story of Kratos while also adding multiplayer into the mixture of puzzles and brutal combat. Ascension is set within months of his families death but well over a decade before the events of the original God of War adventure. After breaking your bloo...

God of War Ascension Review

Kratos has taken down giants, mountainous gods who have seized him in his quest for vengeance against Ares. God of War's enormity is a hallmark, and in Ascension, Kratos fights… bugs. Middling insects prey on the weak, sapping them of life while repurposing them as insectoid beings.

● Familiar God of War combat and climbing ● Superior scale ● Dense visuals – Epic score

● Frustrating pacing ● Often incoherent storytelling ● Multiplayer not worth an online pass ● Most repetitious of the series

God of War: Ascension Review

Sure, he shouts and grunts and generally sounds-off on whatever herculean task he's currently making his bitch, but in general, Kratos keeps quiet. The difference has always been that there's a lot going on around our hero.

Multiplayer; surprisingly; Competitive level design; Special moves vary with weapons; Aligning yourself with Hades; Gorgeous single-player visuals; Elemental Blades of Chaos

Kratos doesn't have many new ideas; Tags

God of War: Ascension

Here's a word I never thought would apply to a game in the God of War franchise: boring. And yet, here we are with God of War: Ascension , and...well, that's the first adjective that springs to mind. Other surprising descriptors: plodding and repetitive.

Incredible graphics push the PS3 to its limits

Fewer weapon options leads to repetitive combat; Forgettable, inconsequential plot makes game lack urgency of predecessors

God of War: Ascension

Is God of War Ascension a must have or a must play game The answer to that is simply "YES". If you're a fan of the franchise then you definitely need a Kratos fix and Sony Santa Monica definitely gives you one here.
