Garmin Vivosport review

The Garmin Vivosport is a fitness band with the fitness credibility of a larger runner's watch. It has GPS, it has a heart rate sensor, it even has an altimeter and shares an app with the Garmin Forerunner 935 .

Small for a full GPS tracker; Good battery life; Fair heart rate accuracy

Bland design; No swim modes; GPS can be slow to lock on

Garmin Vivosport Review

The new Garmin Vivosport can be considered a follow up to one of our favourite GPS-equipped fitness trackers in recent years, the Garmin Vivosmart HR+ . It now has a slightly more fun design, alongside a new colour touchscreen display.

Comfortable design; Accurate GPS and HRM; VO2 Max estimations; Good battery life

Rep counting is still tacked on; Washed out display; Slightly buggy automatic exercise tracking

Lousy altimeter but otherwise good

It's not very good at reading stairs (I get credit for well less than half the flights I climb), and quite poor at documenting total feet climbed while cycling. I run Ride with GPS simultaneously and the Vivosport picks up only about half the feet climbed, though the mileage is fairly accurate.

Don't Buy It! Terrible!

The guy at NFM really pushed this as better than the Fitbit products. I've had Fitbit's in the past, and they are way better than this piece of junk. The GPS is VERY slow to connect, and sometimes doesn't work at all.

A fantastic product in its genre: Small and discreet activity meter that measures heart rate and with GPS whenever you want. It does not work for interval training, you can only start / pause / end your race with the touch screen, but it's enough for me!

It performs all its stated functions well - with one glaring exception - Sleep Tracking. This simply does not work, despite my searching for hints on the help site.

Piece of crap - strap broke and cannot be replaced. Yes - if you buy this device the moment the plastic strap breaks it will be useless to you! If you happen to be reading this review I'd recommend buying anything else that has a clearly replaceable strap/band instead.

Great features

Brought this garmin watch for my husband last Feb, with in 9 months the band had snapped and the watch has stopped charging due to the charging point being on the back of the watch which would sit on your wrist.

Not fit for purpose

I bought this because it seemed to offer the best variety of options. GPS, fitness tracking, stress monitoring etc.. it is easy enough to figure out, set up and the app is good however, the screen was not very responsive to starting specific activities and you have to keep pressing until it starts...
