Garmin Fenix 5S Plus

The Garmin Fenix 5S Plus is one of the smaller multisport GPS smartwatches but it's still packed with features including wrist heart rate technology and colour topo maps for when you're off the beaten track.

Monitor your training

When you're training it's important to know if you doing too much, too little, or just the right amount. The 5S Plus automatically evaluates your recent exercise history to advise just how much you should be doing. You can also monitor your overall training regime by measuring exercise over the last week and comparing it to the optimal range for your recent training.

Preloaded profiles

Preloaded profiles for a wide range of activities include running, swimming, hiking, skiing, rowing, paddle boarding and more. To further motivate you, download advanced workouts and training plans through Garmin Connect.

Music on the run

Music is a wonderfully distracting thing during tough sessions, and the 5S Plus over-delivers by letting you store up to 500 songs; buy some Bluetooth headphones for phone-free listening

Buy on the run

Need to grab an energy drink on the run? The 5S Plus features Garmin Pay contactless payment so you can make payments with your watch.

Built-in navigation sensors include three-axis compass, gyroscope and barometric altimeter as well as multi-satellite network capability to track in more challenging environments than GPS alone

Is the battery up to it?

Sure is! Up to 7 days in smartwatch mode and 4 hours in GPS mode with music, depending on the settings you are using at the time.

Garmin Fenix 5S Plus

It may not look like it on the surface, but Garmin's new Fenix 5 Plus fitness watches are quite different from last year's models. Yes, they still have a design that tries to mesh sport and style as seamlessly as possible, but inside the 5S, 5, and 5X Plus models have much-needed new features.

Attractive design with case size options for all wrists; Long battery life; Plethora of activities to track that monitor just as many fitness metrics; New onboard maps let you navigate without your phone; Newly added Garmin Pay and music storage; Optional pulse oximeter will appeal to hikers and...

Automatic exercise recognition needs improvement; Pulse Ox sensor only available on 5X Plus; Connect IQ store doesn't have many non-fitness apps; No LTE option; Can be incredibly expensive

Garmin Fenix 5 Plus review: The champion smart sports watch is better than ever

Garmin has refreshed its Fenix range for 2018, adding more features into the 5 Plus and making it more powerful than ever. Despite its significant price tag, is this the best smart sports watch to buy

Great build quality and durability; GPS locks location quickly; Accurate heart rate sensor; Music makes carrying a phone unnecessary; 10 day battery life; 100m water proofing

Sleep tracking is inconsistent; Battery life not quite as good as previous Fenix 5 or Forerunner 945; Loading music is cumbersome; It's undeniably expensive

Great Watch

I bought this watch about a month ago and wanted to put the watch through it's paces as it's supposed to be the best on the market and I wasn't disappointed in any way. I have used about 70% of it's features so far as there is so many to use and install you can change the watch Face to any that you...

Watch looks really nice, app seems accurate. I previously had an Apple Watch that got damaged twice and I wasn't prepared to waste money on one again. I do like the watch but feel disappointed as the watch screen didn't look anywhere near as clear as the pictures advertised, also after nearly 3...

I am disappointing in this watch, especially for the price. I waited until it went on sale, but still paid almost $700. Pros: 1) Quickly connects to GPS 2) Accurate GPS 3) Some people have issues with the heart rate, but I haven't had any, my heart rate measures pretty accurately, on a run, during...

If you're an avid runner, rider or multi-sport enthusiast there's really high odds you have a Garmin device or two at your disposal already. We've been lucky enough to get a good look at a number of Garmin devices in the last 12 months, but the Fenix 5S Plus takes a huge leap beyond ordinary...

Lovely piece of kit from Garmin

Item is superb, battery life is awesome and so many features of use. John Lewis click and collect works as seamlessly as my new Garmin device. Despite some negative reviews elsewhere the screen is clear and easily readable in sunlight. Strap is comfortable and strong.
