Garmin Fenix 3: Adventure ready for any sport (hands-on)

Garmin has released the third generation of its adventure GPS watch, the Fenix 3. The Garmin Fenix 3 is all about adventurous, off-the-beaten-path sports. But unlike its predecessors this generation is built even better for the day-to-day runner, cyclist or swimmer.

An excellent fitness watch that serves as an every day wear

Pros: The watch is very stylish and easy to use. I have used it for running and walking so far. The GPS is accurate and functional as I have grown to expect from Garmin. The sapphire bezel is very nice and durable. the thing that has impressed me so far is the battery life.

So far so good

Have the watch for a month, really like it. It takes some time to learn the functionality (which I am still learning) but once you learn how to navigate the menu it's pretty easy to use.

Altimeter stuck at 65,617' elevation

The Garmin Fenix 3 has a problem with the altimeter. Mine, along with many others is stuck at 65,617' (20,000m). Google "Fenix 3 65,617" and see for yourself. People like myself have been contacting Garmin for over a year and keeps giving different answers to the problem.

Seems like a legit watch for a good price

I got mine when it was offered for $285. I see the price is now $339. The concern when I bought was if the watch was legit because the price was so low. $340 is still a pretty good price. As far as I can tell it is as advertised: a new Garmin Fenix 3 HR. It comes with everything advertised.

Love it

I have had my Fenix 3 a couple of years and still absolutely love it. It has alot of technical things on it that I do not use but what I do use it for it is first class. I have always liked garmin running watches so when I needed one with a longer battery life and with navigation on I did not...

Great smart & fitness watch

OK, so I am a Windows Phone user and we dont have many choices when it comes to wearable tech.I had the MS Band and then Band 2 for my everyday fitness tracker and smart watch. Small, light and packed with sensors you rarely see in more expensive watches.

Garmin poor customer service, watch less than 2 years old and want to charge £164 to fix

It is the same as others report, the altitude stops working correctly, root cause is barometer is going up and down, done calibration many times, even reset watch to factory setting. Same error occurs, altitude sometimes goes to 65,000 ft, when barometer goes low.

Review

I love it. It was a marginal decision as it catered to quite a bit more than I (at the time) needed, however it's motivated me to actually start doing some of these other things! It's become absolutely invaluable to me now, especially the GPS.

A Serious Athletic Investment

I purchased the Fenix 3 (pronounced Phoenix, little did I know!) to replace a Garmin Forerunner 610. The previous watch was an investment in getting up and over the marathoning hurdle, and was more than capable of meeting all of those needs.

Rugged; Good Value; Simple; Lightweight; Reliable; extreme battery life; forefront of technology
