Fujifilm X-Pro1

All of this raises the question: who is this camera for? Though the X-Pro1 delivers pro-level photo quality that should appeal to wedding and portrait photographers, if you have to process large volumes of images on a regular basis, the lack of widespread RAW support may really impede your workflow.
Pros:
  • Stellar photo quality
  • Beautiful-looking
  • mostly streamlined design
  • Attractive for deep-pocketed enthusiasts and curious professionals
Cons:
  • Poor autofocus performance
  • Bare-bones feature set
  • New sensor means RAW processing support will take longer to appear

Fujifilm X-Pro1 review

We did manage to take some lovely, creamily ‘filmic' results with this Fuji, but with a slightly slow auto focus that encourages manual use, this is a complex beast that requires persistence and perseverance to achieve the stunning results it's capable of.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 - A Passionate Love-Hate Affair

The Fujifilm X-Pro1 is a camera which will enchant you, frustrate you, seduce you and vex you. You will find yourself pushed against the limit of your photographic patience and pushed past beyond what you thought an APS-C camera could do.
Pros:
  • Finely detailed images with low noise
  • Bright optical viewfinder
  • Faster buffer than X100
Cons:
  • Sluggish auto-focus
  • High price

Fujifilm X-Pro1 review

With its rangefinder-like dials and knobs up top, plus DSLR-style controls at the back, the 16.3 megapixel Fuji X-Pro1 is every inch the enthusiast's camera. It encourages experimentation rather than just pointing and shooting, plus, with its buttons and dials, a period of familiarisation will be...
Pros:
  • Rock-solid build quality
  • Full manual controls
  • Hybrid viewfinder
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • LCD not angle adjustable
  • Slow auto focus on video

Fujifilm X-Pro1

With almost every major manufacturer, save mysteriously Canon, now offering a mirror-less compact with a larger than average sensor and on which the lens can be swapped for near digital SLR (DSLR) quality, Fuji has belatedly joined the fray.
Pros:
  • Stunningly high build quality will tempt those who may have been lusting after an even more expensive Leica rangefinder camera
  • plus we love the extremely high resolution LCD and EVF/optical viewfinder
Cons:
  • The priciest Compact System Camera (CSC) out there
  • auto focus a little sluggish especially during video recording
  • rear LCD not angle adjustable
  • EVF provides more accurate view than optical finder

This is an amazing camera. Perfect in almost every way. It has an Achilles heel and that is the focus. If you need a camera that focuses quickly, this is not the camera for you. All else is far superior. This camera has IQ that is every bit as good as a full-frame shooter.
Pros:
  • Wonderful look and feel
  • controls/interface absolutely genius
  • pictures out of this world clarity
  • sharpness
  • white balance amazing
Cons:
  • focus

Performance niggles aside, the X-Pro1 is still a great camera, and you can't knock it in terms of styling, build and image quality. And if it follows suit from the X100, we can hope to see its price drop in coming months, making it a classy and far more affordable option for CSC users.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 review

The Fujifilm X-Pro1 does almost everything right: it's a beautiful (if enormous) camera, it takes great pictures and video, and once you take the time to learn its controls and systems it's as capable a shooter as I've tested.
Pros:
  • Gorgeous design
  • Takes excellent photos and videos
  • Efficient control system
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Lens ecosystem is new and very small
  • Relatively slow autofocus
