Fujifilm X20 review - Retro-style camera with solid build
X-ceptional: re-vamped version of the X10 keeps the same gorgeous outer shell but adds under-the bonnet performance tweaks The Fujifilm X20 premium compact with a ‘classic' design updates the previous X10 model and in doing so clashes with the likes of the Samsung EX2F, Olympus XZ-2, Pentax MX-1,
Pros:
- X20 feels great in the hand thanks to solid mainly metal build
- clever function implementation includes optical viewfinder with digital overlay
- the fact the camera can be activated or deactivated via a twist of its lens adds a further point of difference
Cons:
- Certain rivals have both a larger sensor and higher resolution for this price
- maximum aperture not quite as bright as some competitors' f/1.4 or f/1.8 optics
- smaller LCD screen than many

Digital with the flavour and pedigree of the rangefinders of yore. The manual zoom, the viewfinder, the size and lovely quality of the captures create an almost instant love affair with the X20. It's a joy in the hand.

Brilliantly conceived with a few operational frustrations
Brilliant. Only the lack of a built-in neutral density filter is frustrating, as the camera will only shoot up to 1/1000 of sec. at wider apertures (a limitation of the leaf shutter, which, however, allows one to synch flash at higher speeds.

Fujifilm X20
Featuring the same 'retro' styling as its predecessor, the Fujifilm X20 appears superficially identical to the X10. But inside there have been plenty of changes to bring this advanced digicam up-to-date.
