Polygon's review copy of Forza Motorsport 7 arrived just a few hours before the embargo. I spent most of yesterday playing - and enjoying - the game, which hails from a long line of Microsoft racing games, developed by Turn 10.

The forced homologation has ruined the game play. The true essence of the cars are lost and they all end up driving the same. Previous versions of the game let you run at a peeformance deficit as long as you acknowledged your car was below par and I enjoyed being able to run a bone stock car and...

Lies upon lies

forza 7 the only problem with this game is the loaded pregame videos show in 4K and it is a complete and total lie! the preloaded video in all of the in game play are pregenerated using 4k yes, but the actual gameplay is more like a low version of 720p the actual in game play is garbage the in game...

Forza Motorsport 7 Review

Driving sims are probably one of the most difficult kinds of games to iterate on. Technology came a long way in the last ten years, and game developers have gotten pretty good at making cars drive like cars.

The core racing is still exceptional

Spending two hours researching the in-game economy; only to have it change before the review runs

Forza Motorsport 7: "There's no other modern racing this good at what it does"

It's taken 12 years and seven attempts, but Forza Motorsport has now firmly set the bar by which all other racing games will be judged....

Best-in-class graphics; even on a bog-standard Xbox One; Brilliant control that's perfectly playable with a pad; An utterly gargantuan amount of content; all of it superb

Load times are a bit on the long side; Big crashes are underwhelming; Progression is quite complex and needs a lot of time invested

Forza Motorsport 7 Review

Available on Xbox One (version tested) and Windows PC Considering the Xbox One X as the most powerful console ever, and the place to be to see the most beautiful games, it's surprising that we're getting Forza Motorsport 7 a month before the hardware launches.

Looks utterly gorgeous; Accessible to players of all skill levels; A fun and engaging career mode; So many cars to drive; And lots of tracks to drive them on

Long load times between races; AI behaviour can be erratic at times

A beautiful day at the track – Forza Motorsport 7 review

More accessible than ever, Forza Motorsport 7 delivers a gorgeous racer that will likely be a fantastic launch title for Microsoft's Xbox One X. We will revisit this review to give it a thorough update when that platform launches, but until then, enjoy the 700 vehicles, new livery options, and...

700 amazing cars that all feel different; Eye-poppingly beautiful; Dynamic weather causes in-game effects; Incredible accessible for all audiences; Challenges are a great break from racing

Gatcha-like mod system feels grindy; VIP rewards are a tough pill to swallow; Occasional framerate hitches on Xbox One and PC; Occasional physics wobbles

Forza Motorsport 7 Review: Any more real and you'd be paying for gas

Forza Motorsport has managed to captivate me for twelve years now. Starting with 233 cars and 31 tracks back in 2005, the game has evolved at a rapid pace year after year. Now, with over 700 cars and 32 race environments, Forza 7 is the biggest version ever.

Beautiful graphics; Lots of cars; Track variety; Dynamic weather; Forza Cup

Still no race engineer; Inconsistent driver AI; Car tuning difficult for novices; Frame rate dropping on Xbox One; No manual headlamp switch

Review: Forza Motorsport 7

Polyphony Digital has been creating realistic driving simulators for 20 years. In 1997, Gran Turismo proved that driving race cars how they are meant to be driving can still be fun, albeit with some patience. It's been a joy to once again return to the series, but this year...

Realistic and extremely detail graphics; Dynamic weather patterns that keep courses fresh; Improved handling; Offers something for different types of drivers

Loot boxes seem unnecessary
