Forza Motorsport 6 review

This year marks the tenth anniversary of Forza Motorsport which began on the original Xbox as a direct competitor for the Playstation's Grand Turismo series. Now ten years later, the series makes its second appearance on the Xbox One with the sixth game in the series.

Looks and sounds great as usual; Wet weather effects are excellent; Huge roster of intricately detailed cars and new tracks; Accessible controls

Night effects are unconvincing; Puddles are excessively large in places; Physics feel less simulation like than in previous titles

Forza Motorsport 6 review

Forza Motorsport 6 is too square to be cool, too rational to capture the romance of motorsport, too formulaic to capture its gritty, high-stakes drama. But it's also too good to ignore.

With the loss of some of its personality, Forza Motorsport 6 sometimes feels like a little less than the sum of many much improved parts, and there are certain quality-of-life changes that feel increasingly overdue.

Forza Motorsport 6 Review

Updated 17/11/2015: As Turn10 sneakily introduced micro-transactions into the game after release and review, this review has been updated to reflect that stance. As a result, needless micro-transactions have affected the game's score negatively.

Showcase events provide some really interesting racing at 60 fps; Lots of news tracks including rain variants; A great selection of cars to redline

Still with the micro-transactions; Some car models are still not entirely accurate; Doesn't do anything really new

It's taken a mere 10 years for the sixth instalment of the franchise to launch exclusively on the Xbox platform. Since then it's all but overshadowed the Gran Turismo franchise as the leading simulation racer on any console format, but does it have enough to take on newcomers, such as Project CARS ?

The new Rio de Janeiro track is fantastic | Wet weather racing that truly works | Drivatars are improved and much better than normal AI | Hours and hours of racing | Kinect is missing altogether (YAY!

Only 26 tracks? | Rally cars but no dirt tracks? | The most 'meh' soundtrack for a racing game ever

Forza Motorsport 6

Since the Forza Motorsport series began, each entry has moved the series forward with major innovations, additions, and improvements. But Forza Motorsport 5 stumbled as the need to rebuild for the new Xbox One left it short on content.

Forza Motorsport 6 Review

Like a big bucket of Hot Wheels brought to life, is first-order car porn for the automobile obsessed but remains an accessible and exciting racer for those who just want to drive fast in something red with a horse logo on it.

Incredibly varied car roster; Wet weather is impressive; Rock-solid racing; Returning players are well rewarded
