Fitbit Ionic review: Bridging the gap between fitness tracker and smartwatch

The Fitbit Ionic not only brings a solid, lightweight design with a beautiful screen, it also adds built-in GPS and dedicated swim functionality that the earlier Blaze was lacking.

Great design with beautiful colour display; Waterproof; GPS; Excellent platform; Continuous heart-rate monitoring; Automatic exercise recognition; Multi-sport tracking; Comfortable; Decent battery life

Touchscreen not responsive enough; Expensive; It's not that smart as smartwatches go

Fitbit Ionic Smart Fitness Watch Blue and Burnt Orange IONIC review

Testing the Ionic after the Versa only serves to reveal its shortcomings. It’s not a bad watch, even if my conclusions might indicate that. It’s a regular watch, with pretty good tracking features (with a couple of exceptions), and a hefty price.

The size of the watch is a feature that people will either like or hate; For the most part, the big size of the Ionic gives users a sense of sturdiness, which is a good thing; Also, it’s not a bad looking device, no matter what people are saying.

While I was saying that the increased size does have some advantages, it also means that it’s sometimes cumbersome; For example, wearing it during sleep is a problem; You never quite forget you have it on; A big problem with the Ionic is the synchronization function with the smartphone.

ironic

after a week and a half, the blue tooth stopped. When it says Android and windows 10 there are some other specifics. Basically if you don't have an IPAD, or someother "I" product IFIT is not your fit.

Love it!!!

I have been a Fitbit user for 3 years and I love the products. The Fitbit Ionic is the best. It was easy to set up. My favorite feature is being able to see my texts and listening to the music app. Awesome!!

Fitbit Ionic Adidas Edition Review: Should You Pay More For Branding

It's hard to recommend the Fitbit Ionic Adidas Edition over the regular version since there's not really a big difference when it comes to overall function. Yes, you do get ballin' limited edition watch straps and that watch face, but it's not really worth paying Php 2K more for that alone.

Disappointed: Not as described with reference to payments capability

Payments made easy Fitbit Ionic includes a built-in NFC chip, which lets you store and use your credit cards right on the watch with just a few simple swipes. The above is the claim in the product description on the John Lewis website.

Great for cycling

Bought this for the spouse as we cycle. The spouse uses it for keeping track of calories and steps as well. Easy to setup, durable as well. It doesn't get 5 stars due that initially the band would just detach. Finally figured out you better use the right size band or it will not stay together.

Took multiple attempts to pair with my android phone and then nearly an hour to update its software. Then drove 15 minutes and it registered 350+ steps whilst driving. Then wore it to bed to monitor sleep pattern and it refused to pair with my phone until both watch and my phone were restarted...

Huge improvement over the Blaze

Have been playing around with the Ionic for over 24hrs now and absolutely loving it. Display has improved significantly over the Blaze. Loving the magnetic charging cable over the Blaze's clunky charging cable.Heaps of watch faces to choose from. App Store still new offering very little options.

Great watch for mountain biking.

Great watch for biking. I had a Fitbit charge 2 hr. this does everything it does and much more. Best thing is the built in gps which means I don't need to risk taking my phone to track route in Strava. Waterproof means now worries in heavy rain when biking.
