Fitbit Ionic

There's a downside to getting new gadgets before everyone else does: not everything the device might be able to do is ready. Some of the features I was most excited to test on the Ionic aren't fully ready yet: Dynamic workouts, the new Fitbit Coach app and experience, the completed App Gallery, and...

Works with iOS; Android; and Windows Phone; Great battery life; Bright; colorful touchscreen; Comprehensive fitness track features and informative sleep tracking; Free guided workouts are fun and easy to follow; Fitbit's mobile app is the best fitness companion

Can only store one watch face at a time on the device; Smartphone alert quality is lackluster; Limited third-party apps at the moment; Music integration only works with a paid Pandora account or local files; SpO2 monitor integration is still a mystery; No rep counting features; Some of the coolest...

Fitbit Ionic Smart Fitness Watch Blue and Burnt Orange IONIC review

All in all the Fitbit Ionic is without question Fitbit’s most impressive offering to date. And in doing so they’ve got a very legit competitor to certain variants of the Apple Watch, as well as Garmin, on the fitness side.

Fitbit Ionic Review

Incredible activity tracking, a days-long battery, and stylish, comfortable fit makes the Fitbit Ionic a fitness fan favorite.

Incredible battery life; Automatic workout tracking is a nice addition; Waterproof up to 50 meters; Great interchangeable bands; Stores up to 300 songs

App offerings leave a bit to be desired; Lacks the ability to respond to text messages/emails; Not as full-featured as other smartwatches on the market

Fitbit Ionic review

This product was featured in our Holiday Gift Guide! Check it out to find gift inspiration for everyone in your life. A mainstay in the fitness tracking industry for years, Fitbit’s ascension to the cream of the wearable crop was originally met with subpar competition. Today, companies like Garmin, Suunto, TomTom, and Samsung properly push Fitbit forward, preventing the company from resting on its existing innovations. However, an unsurprising master class in wearables taught by none other than Apple — in the form of the Apple Watch — has Fitbit scrambling to maintain its position as king of the fitness hill. Its answer? The Fitbit Ionic. Our Fitbit Ionic review reveals a wearable that blends the impressive fitness tracking ecosystem of its two-year-old Blaze with a host of modern smartwatch capabilities such as a dedicated app store and NFC tap-to-pay transactions, along with Bluetooth and WiFi compatibility. We put Fitbit’s Ionic through its paces to see if its updated software, cust...

Fitbit Ionic Smart Fitness Watch Blue and Burnt Orange IONIC review

Fitbit adds some much-needed features to its flagship smartwatch, but is it enough to rival the Apple Watch Series 3?

Fitbit is a company that is successful for its innovations in the wearables sector. It was one of the first firms to impact the fitness tracking space in a major way, inspiring people to record their movement data and improve on it to be more active.

Great design with beautiful colour display; continuous heart-rate monitoring; added waterproofing; built-in GPS; multi-sport tracking; comfortable; decent battery life

Touchscreen could be more responsive; pricey

The device brings most of the features and data from the excellent Fitbit app and brings them to your wrist in living colour. And like the Fitbit trackers, Ionic can count your steps, tell you how many calories you've burnt and also tell you how well you slept.

Great design; nice screen; exceptional fitness companion; excellent Fitbit app; amazing battery life

Expensive; hard to sync music; can't see the time while working out
