r It's been a big couple of years for smart fitness trackers with smartwatches now incorporating most of the functions normally included in traditional fitness trackers as standard features in Android Wear, the Apple Watch and others.

Fitbit Ionic review: Not the smartest smartwatch

Fitbit started out making simple step counters that clipped on your pocket, but over time it added displays, exercise tracking, heart rate monitors, and more. Many of its rivals have changed their focus or simply gone out of business, but Fitbit is fast becoming a household name.

Battery life The Ionic will run for around four days on a charge (Fitbit claims a little longer); Either way, it's much better than other smartwatches, Bands The Fitbit band connector is easy to use and allows quick band swaps, Fitness tracking Logs exercise in the Fitbit app, which is excellent for...

Design It does not look like a smartwatch that costs $300; Fit is a little strange because of the convex bottom, Display again Small and rectangular with low resolution, Bands again Uses a non-standard connector, and the stock band isn't very comfortable.

Fitbit's first true smart watch is a a success and generally lays the ground work for plenty of improvements to come - both in firmware and future models.

Watch has worked great. I love the features and I'm looking forward to coming additional features. Battery life is good, lasts about 5 days. I give this watch 5 thumbs up.

Took multiple attempts to pair with my android phone and then nearly an hour to update its software. Then drove 15 minutes and it registered 350+ steps whilst driving. Then wore it to bed to monitor sleep pattern and it refused to pair with my phone until both watch and my phone were restarted...

Huge improvement over the Blaze

Have been playing around with the Ionic for over 24hrs now and absolutely loving it. Display has improved significantly over the Blaze. Loving the magnetic charging cable over the Blaze's clunky charging cable.Heaps of watch faces to choose from. App Store still new offering very little options.

This is a great little smartwatch to take running as it has a built in GPS and MP3 playback over Bluetooth. No more carrying the phone around on runs! It was also the cheapest brand-name one that I could find at the time and the reviews I read were generally quite positive, particularly about...
