Pain and then Failure

As Fiio recommended, I tried to upgrade the included software when I first received my X3. Fiio's directions managed to be incomplete, redundant, and contradictory all at once. I emailed B&H, but they couldn't explain the prcoess either (who can blame them if the mfg. can't explain?).

excellent unit

I use this mostly for playing MP3s rather than hi-res. It does have some firmware issues with FF and index funtionality.Support is very responsive however and promises to fix these issues in an upcoming FW release.Despite this, highly recommended.

Good support; Sound; Well built

Firmware Flakiness

Introduction: FiiO has been a very popular brand in affordable headphone audio accessories for the past few years. Their line out docks, amplifiers, DAC's, and plenty of other gadgets have redefined what you can get for your money. FiiO has now launched their first DAP, the X3.

Cost of the device; universal sound and EQ; features

Excellent sound quality, poor UI

The sound quality is superb on this device. There is essentially zero background noise and there is a large dynamic range. Paired with some good headphones music sounds incredible. The downside is the UI. Navigating through albums / artists is a chore and I find the button layout somewhat confusing.

X3; Way to be!

I gave up. I had had it with my MP3/phone all-in-one device. I wanted better sound. Along came the X3 and the reviews were quite good so I bit! It's been fantastic. The unit takes a little bit of getting used to with the button layout but other than that the music is superb.

High quality music playback - be amazed.

Don't download at 192kbps and play back low quality MP3 files. If you want to listen to your music at higher bit rates (i.e. 1411kbps as you would rip them from your own CD collection) then this is the kit for you.

brilliant sound...much better than an ipod

i am not much of an audiophile but definitely appreciate clean, crisp music. i read about the DAC online and given the competitive price for X3, went ahead and ordered one. Very satisfied with the product. it is a no nonsense DAC and at a price slightly over the ipod is a steal!

I ordered this on Monday afternoon and it arrived Tuesday morning, this unit is everything it is made out to be, sleek, well built and it sounds great. I have been using my phone as a music player for quite a number of years now, ever since my G4 iPo..

A Little Thing with a Big Heart

I am not much of a'cans' person(headphones) other than during travel, I used my dumb mobile phone, a Samsung Champ II(C-3330) loaded with a 16 GB mircoSDHC card and a fold-able Sennheiser PX100-II, and the pair did the job quite well with CD ripsof mp3 files at 320 kbps at 44.1 KHz sampling rates...

Fiio X3 -- OMG!!

Where do I begin?? I've been an iPod user for years. Honestly, I would still be an iPod user were it not for the wonky iTunes software that I finally got fed up with. Thus, I began my research. Months later, I decided on the Fiio X1 due to my budget.
