At a lower price point than usual, you might expect Far Cry New Dawn to deliver a shorter, more truncated experience than its predecessor, but this is a still a sprawling apocalypse to wade through. And despite the overwhelming similarities to Far Cry 5, in many ways it’s a stronger game - more streamlined, less frantic, and built around a central hub that’s genuinely enjoyable to upgrade. Far Cry’s gameplay isn’t as revolutionary as it once was, but it’s still a thrill to take out an enemy encampment on your own, or tear through a forest on an old rusty motorbike, and so it’s tricky to not enjoy yourself in New Dawn. However, the lurching creep of microtransactions makes the whole affair feel uglier that it ever should, and when you marry that with glitches, bugs and some the fact the map is largely the same as before, New Dawn feels a little cheap and occasionally a little nasty. Enjoyable, sometimes very much so, but also pretty inessential.

In terms of general feel, New Dawn's gameplay is precisely what you would expect from Far Cry, but the longer you play the game, the more you notice how Ubisoft's tweaks to the weapon and perks systems, along with enemy strength, have bred a subtly different feel to proceedings.

Ordered this game last week and it came within 2 days, its a good game if you like the far cry franchise.

I loved Far Cry 5 . I will not deny that. In fact, after beating it nearly one year to the day on Xbox One X, I repurchased the game on Steam as a benchmark for my brand new gaming laptop.

Heaps of fun

Those who have exhausted everything to do in and still crave for more would be more than satisfied with this one. For those hoping there might be a new entry that could fight off franchise fatigue, they may have to cross their fingers so that Ubisoft takes bigger risks in the future. –

More Far Cry; with most of the strengths of the series strong as ever; Plenty of neat sequel stuff/Easter eggs for those that played Far Cry 5; Superpowers are fun to experiment with; Expeditions add some scenic variety and are good for co-op

Smaller scope loses open world feel and cramps story; Addition of RPG style mechanics not a winner; Themes and setting can feel only half-explored; Expeditions play too similarly

Fundamentally flawed through its ham fisted efforts to force the player into unreasonable narrative situations that are intended to provoke emotion from the player, but only serve to frustrate and annoy. There is nothing original in this game, and I consider it a waste of money.
