FIFA 14

Graphically speaking, the differences between FIFA 13 (review) and FIFA 14 do make for a good spot-the-difference puzzle. Players do look a bit better up close during goal celebrations, which by the way you can now control via buttons combos to do, for example, a fist pump celebration.

FIFA 14 is an exercise in subtle refinements and clever tweaks that transforms the familiar into something that feels fresh, exciting, and always engaging.

There's a change of pace about FIFA 14 that can be a little jarring at first. Those long-used run-and-gun attacks up the center of the pitch so beloved by FIFA players are met here with a steely wall of defence and a disheartening counterattack.

Slower pace and physics tweaks reward considered attacks; Much improved AI performs slick runs and boxes in attackers; New menus look great and are far better organized; Smooth animations make the game look more lifelike than ever before; OVR finally masked to encourage player scouting

Visuals still look a little too clean; Single-player modes beginning to age; despite some much-needed tweaks

PS3 Review: FIFA 14

While it doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel, FIFA 14 continues to improve year on year despite the lack of new modes, but the controls are more refined and the AI is so much smarter than before. Online play is a blast, but the visuals are becoming dated.

Review: Fifa 14

The game itself looks marginally better than Fifa 13. Collisions feel more realistic and movement in general seems to look a lot less stiff. It's apparent that the real improvement will come in the next-gen versions.
