Epson Stylus Photo R3000 A3+ Inkjet Photo Printer - Superlative Image Quality

The Stylus Photo R3000 is Epson's newest A3+ photo printer targeted at professionals and advanced enthusiasts. It accepts nine ink cartridges, has a 2-picoliter minimum ink droplet size, is able to do disc printing, and sports built-in Wi-Fi. Are you tempted?

Superb color; B&W print quality; Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity; CD/DVD printing; No manual swapping of black ink cartridges

Loss of ink during black inks switchover; Expensive

For serious-hobbyist or semi-pro photographers on a budget, this wide-carriage printer offers superb image quality and value. If you do a lot of printing, though, note that the ink costs are a bit high.

Prints up to 13 inches wide; Excellent price; Superb image quality; Auto-switches black inks; Prints to roll paper; CDs/DVDs; Wi-Fi connectivity

Costlier ink than Stylus Pro 3880; Wastes ink when switching certain modes

Epson Stylus Photo R3000 Sets the Standard

A s soon as our Canon Pro-1 review was published, we heard from Epson. You really should take a look at our R3000, they said. Indeed, the R3000, which beat the Pro-1 to market by several months, has a lot going for it that the Pro-1 does not. Ethernet, for one. And a small pigment droplet size, too.

The R3000 has many features without too many bells and whistles. The quality of printing is first class, I calibrate my monitor before any printer review so I am confident that it is displaying accurate colours, however I still had to to lighten up the files with an adjustment layer before printing.

Superb print quality; Print speed; Large capacity ink cartridges; Compact size; Excellent LCD screen; Build quality

Price; Straight paper path is a clumsy operation

Epson R3000 review Review

It could be a tad faster and I wish the higher-capacity cartridges had brought more of a saving on ink costs. Neverthless, this larger format printer produces really excellent results, delivering photos with rich contrasts, stunning detail levels and beautifully vibrant colours.

Excellent monochrome results; Vivid natural colours; Impressive detail levels; Quiet print engine

Larger capacity ink cartridges don't bring huge savings; Print speeds are a tad sluggish

Photo Review has been given a 'first look' at a pre-production unit of the new Stylus Photo R3000, which was announced in the US on 17 January. This model will sit above the Stylus Photo R2880 at the top of the company's A3+ desktop line-up when it's released in early March.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000: An Affordable, High-Quality Inkjet Printer

There are those who make prints often, and there are those who make prints occasionally. The split, you might think, is between amateur and pro, but that's not always the case. Some "amateurs" print as much if not more than some pros, and some pros make their own prints only when they have time,...

If you want years of aggravation, choose this printer.

Great print quality if you can get it to print. After three years of problems, I'm throwing in the towel. Here are some of the issues: 1) It takes forever to print. The sound of parts moving around before the printing actually starts can go on for minutes. 2) Sometimes it only prints half an image.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000

My friend recommended this printer to me and it clearly surpassed my expectations. His printer is an earlier version of mine. Epson really stepped up the options on this model by adding more ink colors/blacks, larger variety of paper/media to print on including - Canvas, CD/DVD, etc.

Excellent for discriminating advanced amateur and light professional work.

Easy to set up and run. After recalibrating my monitor and the printer, this is the first non-professional printer to consistently produce the color fidelity that I require for images processed in Photoshop. I also like the benefits of not having to change ink cartridges frequently.
