Epson PowerLite 935W WXGA 3LCD Projector Review

The Epson PowerLite 935W WXGA 3LCD Projector delivers excellent quality for data images and far-better-than-average video for a data projector. If you're looking for a WXGA (1,280-by-800) projector for a midsize conference room or classroom, the Epson PowerLite 935W WXGA 3LCD Projector ($1,199) is a great candidate. Among its stronger points are a 3,700-lumen brightness rating, excellent image quality for data presentations, and better-than-average video quality for a data projector. It also offers a 1.6x zoom lens, giving you significant flexibility in how far you can put it from the screen to get a given size image. The 3,700-lumen rating makes the 935W not quite as bright as the NEC NP-P401W ($1,124.99 at Amazon) , our Editors' Choice WXGA projector for a midsize to large room. The NEC model also offers a slightly greater zoom and a vertical lens shift, a feature that lets you adjust image height without tilting the projector and then having to deal with keystone distortion. On the other hand, the 935W is significantly less expensive than the NEC model. If you don't need the extras, there's no point in paying for them...
Pros:
  • Bright
  • Excellent quality for data images
  • Video quality is far better than average for its kind
Cons:
  • No 3D support
