Electrolux PUREi9 robot vacuum review

UPDATE: Electrolux believed that some of the problems we encountered during our original testing may have been due to the review unit being faulty and sent us a replacement. After spending some time with this new unit, we've updated our assessment of its mapping technology and new companion app .

Compact triangular design; Climbs up to 22mm; Excellent app connectivity; Washable filter; Reasonably quiet on Eco mode

Mapping software needs improvement; 40-minute battery life; Undeniably pricey

Constant issues with app connectivity

We bought the pure i9 robotic vacuum about six months ago and have had issues with wifi connectivity ever since. The app shows the vacuum as "Not Available", which means it's lost wifi connectivity with the device (but the wifi network works fine). This has happened three times in six months.

Cleans the carpets better than my normal vacuum!

I've been looking to invest in a robot cleaner for a while and was convinced by the sales person to go for the Electrolux robot a week ago. It has a lot of cool features, and I'm obsessed with tracking it's progress on the app as it cleans the house (more fun then playing candy crush!).

Electrolux Pure i9

The Electrolux Pure i9 robot vacuum uses a 3D camera for expert navigation around your home, but is otherwise priced high for what it offers.

Excellent navigation with 3D camera; Strong cleaning abilities; Simple, well-designed app

Expensive; Relatively short battery life; No voice control (yet) or smart home integration

Electrolux Pure i9 Review

With a hefty price tag and short battery life, the $899 Electrolux Pure i9 has some serious drawbacks. But it's smart enough not to run into bowls full of water and has great cleaning power, so we want to forgive its somewhat quirky navigation.

Camera keeps the robot out of danger zones; Delivers a good; thorough clean

Short battery life; Navigation isn't always perfect; Expensive

I like the cleaning power of this robot

I like the cleaning power of this robot, but I do not like the small size of the dirt bin. I purchased the extended warranty, but I worry a bit because Electrolux is not yet recognizing the model number on the bottom of the machine.

Average Results

It [mostly] cleans the short pile carpet and floors. It [mostly] doesn't take up huge amount of space. It is easy to empty the dust bin. It wastes a lot of time trying to line up, misses a lot of areas, tends to redo close areas frequently (it's cleaned one mat about 20 times, but ignore opposite...

Electrolux Pure i9 Review

With its futuristic design and camera-based navigation, the Electrolux Pure i9 certainly does a good job playing the part of a high-end robot vacuum. It can maneuver across different floor types and navigate around obstacles with aplomb. It also connects to an app on your phone that you can use to control settings and schedule cleanings. But for $899.99, we expect a bit more. Our Editors' Choice, the Neato Botvac D7 Connected, offers voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, integration with third-party smart home devices, and longer battery life, all for $100 less. Design The Electrolux Pure i9 ($840.94 at Amazon) is the first robot vacuum we've seen with a triangular shape. It measures 12.6 inches on each side, and stands 3.5 inches tall. That makes it relatively compact, so it should be able to fit under all but the lowest of couches. Similar Products Neato Botvac D7 Connected $799.99 See It at Amazon Read Neato Botvac D7 Conne...
