Toshiba Tecra A50-C Notebook Review

The Tecra A50 series is but a shadow of the more expensive and well-regarded Portege series. In order to reach the lower starting prices, Toshiba had to cut a bit too many corners including its weaker lid, poorer display, lack of backlit keyboard, and lack of SIM support.

small and quiet system fan; quiet keyboard; ODD bay/optical drive; very minimal performance hit when running on battery power; spill-resistant keyboard; removable battery; dedicated docking port; matte panel

weak outer lid; very inaccurate colors without calibration; low contrast; display backlight could be brighter; no mSATA or M.2 options; small touchpad; no TrackPoint; no keyboard backlight

Toshiba Tecra A50 Laptop Review

While most modern-day business laptops can't read optical discs, the 15-inch Toshiba Tecra A50 provides an optical drive for those who need one. In addition to its legacy media support, this $813 system provides solid Core i5 performance, a comfortable keyboard and above-average battery life.

I have commented on the purchase of this laptop recently. Neither it was made available to read nor I was sent any response from Newegg.ca. I don't want to buy anymore products from this co.

Nothing to say

Built quality is not up to the mark

Perfect!

Exactly what I wanted. Arrived very fast and in perfect condition. Toshiba is the only brand laptop I'll ever buy.

Toshiba Tecra A50-C review

The Toshiba Tecra A50-C is the laptop you don't have to worry about. Throw it into your suitcase. Drink your lidless latte over it. Knock it off your desk (accidentally, of course.)

Solidly constructed; Diverse array of ports; Well-balanced

Awful display; Spongy keys; Poor multi-touch support

, however, the Tecra A50-C isn't just a straight refresh of a previous product; it ditches the bulky case of the Tecra A50-A for a sleeker look and a lighter weight, and takes its processors from both the Skylake and Broadwell families.

Disappointing

I got one of these laptops through my employer a couple of months ago. Good points: It's pretty fast. Considering it's got a built-in DVD drive it's surprisingly thin and light. The screen is excellent. And the power supply is tiny. Bad points: The overall build quality is awful for the price.
