Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe And The Blight Below Review

While musou style games aren't for everybody, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below is a shining example of a partnership done just right that may just attract some new fans to both franchises.

Love letter to DQ fans; Excellent blend of DQ and musou gameplay; RPG structure; Looks and sounds exceptional

Gameplay can grow repetitive after awhile; Not enough representation of some entries in series

Blighted by the night, vanquishing the plight by the children of the light.

No video game character conveys endearment and sadism in a single expression as well as the Blue Slimes. In Dragon Quest Heroes: The World's Tree Woe and the Blight Below, these iconic teardrop-shaped blobs have never looked more adorable and homicidal, which is what makes killing them en masse one...

Akira Toriyama's character designs have never appeared livelier; Monster minions add immense depth to what have would've been a repetitive experience; Diverse combat styles provide variety across one or multiple playthroughs; Does not rely on classic Dynasty Warriors territorial tug-of-war; Seeing...

Makes you wish a mainline Dragon Quest game looked this gorgeous

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below

The Dragon Quest franchise has had quite the interesting history. Beginning on the Famicom, it became such a hit that it caused massive work-related absences so its games could be played. In the U.S.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below

'Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below' is not a perfect package. There are some flaws with the overall nature of the game that keep it from being a truly great experience, and as such not everyone is going to have the patience to deal with some of the title's issues.

The Right Direction For Omega Force

Concept: Apply the Dynasty Warriors formula to the Dragon Quest universe, including the series' iconic enemies and some of its protagonists Graphics: Akira Toriyama's character design and monsters look great on the PlayStation 4 Sound: All of the music is straight from Dragon Quest.

Really loving this game for how immersive and fun it is

First thing to remember is that this is a Dragon Quest game at heart! Sure the game has Dynasty Warriors action but it is so much deeper than that with such features as a armor system, weapons system, magic skills, organizing a party, adjusting stats, light tower defense system via monster coins,...

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below

Fighting through hordes and hordes of enemies with multiple characters; you'd think we were playing Dynasty Warriors. Well nearly, this is Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below , a game published by Square Enix and developed by Omega Force.

Not what I expected. Just a linear RPGs bash up.

If your expecting the game to be the same as the previous PlayStation outing forget it. It's just fight go back home raise your weapons, attributes etc then go fight again. This is not an open world it's very linear in progress.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below review

Despite some serious pacing issues that force you back to the game's hub world after every mission, badly written dialogue with equally awful voice acting, and a gameplay mechanic that I chose to ignore shortly after it was introduced, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below...

+ Fast; furious gameplay; + Great Moment-to-moment action; + Robust RPG mechanics; + Fantastic character design

- Mission structure is ridiculous; - Monster coins is wasted potential; - Silly voice acting and dialogue
