Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a brilliantly inventive 2D platformer that deserves to be considered alongside Nintendo's best

Pre-ordered this and it's a great game, brilliant level design but it is hard for toung players, even in funky mode. In regular mode it's punishing me and I've been gaming since the C64 days! Great fun though, if you like a challenge I'd highly recommend it.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a perfect fit for the Switch, delivering impeccable platforming goodness with Donkey Kong and his family. It's beautiful both from a visual and auditory standpoint and each level you play has its own identity or unique flavour.

Excellent platforming mechanics; Level design is impeccable; New Switch features take the edge off the huge difficulty curve; Funky Kong is radical; Incredibly good soundtrack; Beautiful artistic direction and design; A ton of secrets and completionist centric stuff to do

Controls sometimes feel unresponsive or clunky; Steep difficulty curve that can cause some frustration; Very tight timing windows on some platforming sections

Tropical Freeze is great, but has a fair few issues and an insane price tag.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is the latest Wii U port to hit the Nintendo Switch and if you missed its initial release in 2014 and are planning on picking it up, then you're in for a treat…perhaps banana themed treats!

Difficulty spike late on my surprise some

Fantastic!! Very challenging so suitable for older gamers too (I'm 21). Lots of collectables and secrets so plenty to keep you busy. Beautiful graphics and music. Feels very well made. Haven't played a DK game before but enjoying it very much.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is another excellent Wii U game that has found an even better home on the Nintendo Switch.

All due respect to Kirby Star Allies, but with Tropical Freeze now on Switch, it has easily taken the crown of best 2D platformer on the console. It was a thrill to be able to play the game once more with a spot of extra polish and the addition of Funky Mode and Funky Kong.
