Bungie Creates Magic In Year Two

Destiny might be one of the most polarizing games of the 21st century. The original product and its follow-up expansions (The Dark Below and House of Wolves) established a base of players who love the game, but naysayers were quick to point out Destiny's many shortcomings.

Destiny: The Taken King review - Reevaluating one of the most polarising games of recent years

The Taken King , or, Destiny Rebooted , is the game Destiny always wanted to be when it was first released 12 months ago. The world's been fleshed out to be more engrossing and engaging, characters suddenly have more personality, and the stories that accompany The Taken King actually give Destiny 's...

+ Amazing campaign; + Spectacular boss battles; + Great changes to Light system; + Crucible additions

- Price; $70 (minimum) even for those who already own the game and other expansions is ludicrous, - Even with Nolan North, Ghosts are still too robotic to care about

Destiny: The Taken King review

The promise of 'Halo meets an MMO' was not realised in DESTINY (though two DLCs and a tonne of updates have been smoothing its rough edges ever since). Is this major expansion an item of Legendary value or is THE TAKEN KING a shoddy Green worth sharding?

Extremely replayable Strikes that test your situational awareness and adaptability, not just your trigger finger; Well-voiced, fleshed out characters in a world that feels much more like a living, breathing space; Nolan North beats the crap out of a disinterested Peter Dinklage

Trying to pop an ammo synth or swap a subclass while that menu loads will get you killed; Area load hitches of upwards of six seconds sure ain't cool

Destiny: The Taken King

Even after everything I've said about Destiny I still find myself going back to it. I guess now I have valid reasons, some of them I can actually name because they exist. I know that sounds a bit confusing, but hear me out.

Destiny is finally becoming what it's supposed to be; featuring well-structured missions; more challenging boss fights and strikes; more rewarding end game content; a simplified economy; and the narrative finally gets going; but...

...I still can't bring myself to love or remember the characters in this game or be immersed in the game's lore

A New Monarchy.

The Taken King is more than just an expansion; it's also a heart transplant. And with its wounds sewn shut, the anesthetic wearing off, and the scalpels put away to dry, Destiny has pulled through the operation with renewed vigor and a much stronger pulse. Now, only a few scars remain.

Excellent story; with outstanding voice acting; characterization; and cutscenes; Varied enemies result in more dynamic combat; New progression systems create a consistently rewarding experience; Quest log contains numerous paths to follow between strikes and story content

Game becomes repetitive after 15 hours; and not much variety to support the late-game grind; Many quests are still taxing; with chore lists and boring objectives to complete

Destiny: The Taken King

When Destiny debuted last year, it did not seem worthy of the time developer Bungie had spent developing it. Their first title since leaving behind Halo, the mega franchise that made first person shooters on consoles a thing while simultaneously becoming a tent pole of Microsoft's XBOX, Destiny was...

It's a PS4, a special one!

Really, it's a PS4 that you'd buy anywhere else. I will mention that it comes with a physical copy of the game with a small slip of paper by the manual to download the DLC. The everything else is pretty standard. It doesn't come with a stand, through it stands up very well on it's own.

It's a PS4 - It works - It's not an Xbone

- Doesn't convert antimatter into energy

a positive experience

The item i purchased was a great price, was simple to place the order and arrived exactly the day it was forecast. The only problem was that the disc must have jarred loose from the internal holding mechanism, which i can not blame Target for. Fortunately there was no damage.

Fun with friends, Lots of grinding

This was my second attempt at getting into Destiny since it was originally launched. They replaced the voicework of Dinklebot (google it for more info), and the game/story felt a lot more interesting compared to when it was originally released.
