The original Destiny was a game that had its fair share of criticism, but no matter which way you look at it…it was nothing short of a success and is still played massively by gamers, even with the release of its sequel.

For the sake of clarity and transparency, we'd like to explain a few things from the offset. About a month ago, we visited Bungie in Seattle, where we played through two-thirds of the Destiny 2 campaign.

As an overall product, Destiny 2 is an incredible feat. Bungie spent three years essentially beta-testing this game, and used the knowledge gained from its predecessor to improve and fine-tune just about every aspect of the experience.

Positives + Mandatory integration of adventures into the story + Gambit is absolutely addictive + Loot rolls are more mysterious and often feel more rewarding

Negatives; Power level progression can be stunted based on drops; Poor communication will doom raid runs; Grinding still a potential turn off

Destiny 2 is not a complete overhaul of the original game, but rather an evolution to something much bigger and better than its predecessor. It improves in every way, including the story, varied content and gameplay.

Good story; Fleshed out characters; Lots of added content; Varied activities and events; Gunplay is absolutely sublime

Lootboxes; The odd connection issue; but nothing major; Crucible feels a bit barebones
