Good but not great

Even at four years after it was introduced, the U2412M remains an excellent overall performer in its price range. It is a comfortable screen to work with. Color accuracy and useable contrast are good, and viewing angles excellent.
Pros:
  • We have half a dozen of these monitors in our office
  • Newegg's latest price reduction spurred another buy
  • We are a photography shop, and use these panels as second or third displays for holding palette panels, open documents, etc
  • The U2412M is getting to be old and is being replaced by the U2415.
Cons:
  • Out-of-box color and gamma calibration are all over the place
  • As mentioned above, this isn't an issue if you have a monitor calibration tool available

Great monitor - Documentation lacking

I love the larger monitor size. (I went from 19" to 24".) The image clarity is great too. I would have appreciated better "written" documentation instead of only a single sheet with diagrams. For example, there was nothing to explain what the buttons on the right edge do.

No S-IPS but e-IPS panel

This monitor does not have S-IPS panel, but LG's LM240WU8-SLA1 panel, which is an e-IPS panel. Source: HP dissasembly docs bit.ly/GVIR2N
Pros:
  • Very good monitor overall
Cons:
  • Not an S-IPS panel, but e-IPS
  • Higher price compared to some other models with same or nearly the same specs, no special bad pixel policy as its predecessor ZR24w

high res price difference is not worth.

It is unique product with its resolution. It is not really worth the price difference. I would not recommend to anyone unless price drops below $200. I would expect a difference of $20 between normal resolution and this monitor.

Dell UltraSharp U2412M Review

Dell has enjoyed a healthy reputation when it comes to displays in India, and it has been so at least roughly over the past 4 years. There have been several iconic displays offering an abundance of features, along with impressive performance at different price brackets.

Dell U2412M review

We're seeing an increasing number of IPS panels, as the price of this high-end LCD technology seems to be falling into consumer territory. Unlike last month's Hazro HZ27WC , Dell's U2412M is aimed at a business market, which might excuse the fact that it's twice the price of a budget 24in monitor.

Dell UltraSharp U2412m review: Dell UltraSharp U2412m

With thoughtful design, great performance, and plenty of OSD features, the Dell UltraSharp U2412 fills its value quotient to the brim. As the follow-up to 2009's Dell UltraSharp U2410, the U2412m has quite a bit to live up to. I expected Dell to stay on its high-end and expensive course it had already plotted for the series. Not surprisingly, I'll admit to being a bit disappointed when I learned Dell went with a cheaper IPS panel with the 2412m compared with its previous efforts.
Pros:
  • The Dell UltraSharp U2412m has great performance with excellent ergonomic support and a robust and easy-to-navigate OSD with tons of options for customization
  • It also has five USB ports, and it's currently available for about $350.
Cons:
  • HDMI is missing from the connection options
  • and performance-wise
  • it's not quite there compared with high-end
  • pro-grade IPS panels
  • especially when it comes to viewing angles.
