Dell Ultrasharp U3818DW Review

The Dell Ultrasharp U3818DW is the final word in supersized monitors.

Sturdy build with VESA mount support; Excellent controls; Accurate color and wide color gamut; Strong warranty; Drastically undercuts its competitor's price

Mediocre contrast ratio; No FreeSync support

Dell U3818DW Curved Monitor

If your applications require an accurate sRGB/Rec.709 monitor, the Dell U3818DW delivers excellent accuracy without calibration. After a few adjustments, it becomes an even more precise tool for graphic artists and photographers.

Accurate without calibration; Flexible image controls; Build quality; clear & sharp image; Ideal pixel density; Screen area; 2300R curve

Contrast; No DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB gamut options

Perfect for multi-computer multi-screen replacement

Sitting in front of this is like looking out the windshield in your car from the drivers seat. Its expansive. If youve worked with multiple monitors and the bezels that break up the visual flow, its amazing what dropping that does visually.

Actually not that great for MacBook Pro. Read reviews carefully.

My standards for Mac compatibility are more than just a nice display output so after spending $1K, I'm disappointed. I disagree with the reviews raving about MacBook compatibility.

Excellent Multitasking Monitor

I have one of these monitors at home and one at work and they are absolutely amazing! The single USBC connector works amazing on my MacBook Pro. I can plug it in and have that single cable charge my laptop at high power, give you access to the USB ports on the monitor as well as a direct display...

Great monitor for work and play

I work from home about half of the time and my company has our computers locked down pretty tight. Therefore, I have to keep my work and home computers separate. The defining feature of this monitor compared to other 21:9 monitors on the market is the ability to connect two computers to it and...

Better for business than multiple screens

We've been using a U3818DW to replace a pair of 1600x1200 displays on an well-spec'd but antique Dell Precision + Quadro K2200-based development workstation. Based on six weeks experience, we expect to buy more in future.

Not quite worth the price tag

I really wanted to love this huge beautiful monitor. The look is clean, controls and adjustments are easy to use, and speakers are quite respectable for a computer monitor. My use case requires connecting both a personal Mac mini and a work Windows laptop, either alternating between them in full...

Fantastic!

Wait until you see new widescreen wallpapers spread out on one of these!

This is just an amazing monitor; I looked at it for a long time and had put a price alert on it; When Newegg notified me it had come down, I snapped it up; I primarily use it for home office work and have it connected to a Surface Pro 4 via the docking station docking station through HDMI.

Speakers sometimes lag a bit; They operate through the USB3.0 connections that's handling the keyboard and mouse as well and I find that occasionally they lag; Say a Windows ding or other sound effect; I'll notice the beginning of the sound will be clipped off and I'll just hear the tail end of it.

Brilliant 38" monitor

I am delighted with this monitor. It makes it so much easier to have several documents open on the screen at once. There is absolutely no evidence of backlight bleed, which I feared after reading some reviews.
