The best Dead Rising game yet. Thousands of zombies on screen at any time. A large world to adventure through. Quicker weapon pickups and combinations make for a smoother gameplay flow. Originally for Xbox One, subsequently released on Windows.
More open world – Weapon combinations – Huge world
Mission variety is lacking
Dead Rising 3 is a worthy sequel that's highly impressive on the Xbox One.
Highly detailed world to explore; Impressive scale of zombie hordes
Difficult boss battles; Mostly forgettable narrative
Dead Rising 3 is set three years after the events of Fortune City from Dead Rising 2 . Yet again a deadly virus has plagued the home of protagonist Nick Ramos and the dead are well and truly walking among the living.
Looks great; More on screen zombies than ever before; Crafting weapons on the spot; Quick Save is a god send; Plenty of replay value; Boss fights are less frustrating; So much fun
Gameplay hasn't evolved all that much; I still miss Frank West
Dead Rising has succeeded most when allowed to innovate. The original, released seven months after the 360 launched, was a revelation, displaying hundreds of zombies onscreen simultaneously in glorious HD.
+ Fixes many of the flaws of previous Dead Rising games without sacrificing the series' style; + The sheer amount of weapons to find (and make) will keep you engaged all the way through Overtime
? Why don't people just hide behind those locked doors? No amount of zombies or firepower can break them
Dead Rising 3 is clearly one of the standout Xbox One launch games, but isn't without its problems. I'm not thrilled with the map design, it's got repetition issues and some of the boss fights are disastrous, but Dead Rising fans know to expect that.
+ Hundreds of zombies on screen; + Story and hardcore mode; + Vehicle combos; + Zombie bashing
- Map design; - Too gun heavy; - Some annoying bosses
Dead Rising 3 has made its brand of zombie-slaying as much fun as possible, but it needs to fix a lot more than that before it becomes the king of the undead.
Killing zombies is uncomplicated fun; Fixes so many of Dead Rising's problems; Feels next-gen in scope
Way too many fetch quests; Characters more gross than endearing; Lacking in personality
I am not a "gamer" but I bought the Xbox One and decided to try this game. My gaming preference in the past had been the Tomb Raider & Resident Evil games. I really enjoy how the story goes and that you can redo Chapters and keep your skills so that you can improve.
It may suffer both visually and technically next to its fellow launch titles, but there's no denying there's still some madcap brand of fun to be had in Los Perdidos.
Refined and balanced weapon crafting; Open world brings broader scope
Vehicles handle terribly; Crowbarred Kinect functionality
In the world of Harry Potter, where the laws of natural selection seem to favor whichever genes carry the most whimsy, there exists a species called a Boggart which takes on the appearance of your greatest fear, and is defeated by laughter.
Weapons; and combinations thereof; showcase clever; varied designs
Plot is more of a protracted errand through drab; gray streets that are a chore to navigate; Psychopath boss battles wed frustrating mechanics to backwards stereotypes; Imprecise; overly generous controls
