D-Link AC1900 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter (DWA-192)

If you've recently upgraded to an 802.11ac router , but are still using older Wi-Fi adapters in your laptop and desktop PCs, you're not realizing the full potential of your new router.

Easy to install; Excellent throughput speeds; Good range performance in testing

Expensive; Bulky

D-Link AC1900 Wi-Fi USB Adapter (DWA-192) Review

Unlike the usual Wi-Fi USB adapter that looks like a USB stick, the AC1900 is one that looks like a globe and sits very well even as a table top decoration or a paper weight.

Excellent upgrade, Superfast Wireless

Overall, a great upgrade if you have a new AC router and a slower Wireless N or older computer. Finally, wireless as fast as wired!

Easy to install; AC is as fast as hooking directly up to wired router connection; cool looks

If you don't have an AC Router; it will not give it a big boost

Starting to fail after less than 3 months

I bought this on the strength of a friend's experience but mine has been the polar opposite. After less than three months, the device has started to fail. It has started to randomly disconnect from the internet in rapid succession and without definable reason.

Good when it works, but mine stopped working after a year

The D-LINK AC1900 was good when it worked - fast downloading and uploading speed; it also kept the connection well. Unfortunately, my unit stopped working after a year - it just wouldn't turn on. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting it to different USB ports.

Died within 3 months.

I purchased this product to speed up the wireless on an older laptop. It was not heavily used as my wife only uses the laptop a couple times a week at most and only for basic internet browsing.

-Worked fairly well while it was working; was faster than the previous N dongle I used for years.

-Large size -Annoying pulsing LED light that you can turn off with a button but turns back on next time you reboot - Died within 3 months; looking online; seems to happen often

D-Link DWA-192 USB Wi-Fi Adapter

We put D-Link's DWA-192 through our entire Wi-Fi adapter testing suite. This is done in a standardized and reproducible fashion to generate reliable and consistent results. See How We Test USB Wi-Fi Adapters for more details on our test methodology and setup.

Class-leading throughput with blistering 5 GHz speeds ? Attractive and innovative design ? Triple-antenna design for signal stability ? AC1900 bragging rights

Lack of dedicated software ? Weak long-range 5-GHz signal (compared to the competition) ? Larger size and heavier weight; which limits portability ? High price ? Mediocre 2.4-GHz speeds

Good quality, works on Linux

Got this one in the shop, as they did not have two of the device I wanted to buy. Really good quality, works on Linux with the right kernel module, and capable to take Over The Air captures.
