Cloud Router has strong monitoring capabilities but indifferent performance

As Wi-Fi routers go, the D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router isn't a top performer-it has the basic 2-by-2 antenna array required for 802.11n certification, and its LAN ports support only 10/100 (not gigabit) ethernet.
Pros:
  • Option to hide geeky networking options
  • Remote monitoring and control via iOS or Android
Cons:
  • Limited to 2-by-2 antenna array (300 mbps max
  • No support for 5GHz band
  • Switch is 10/100 ethernet only

D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router

Overall, I would recommend the DIR-605L to people who are willing to sacrifice some performance for the ability to monitor network activity from afar. The router's lack of 5GHz support, in particular, is disappointing for city dwellers, who often knock each other off the narrow 2.4GHz band that the...

Cons:
  • Limited to 2-by-2 antenna array (300 mbps max)

"For the price it can't be beat!"

Love this router, I have had zero connection drops or required resets since I plugged it in compared to my last router which I had to do constantly. It doesn't have all the bell & whistles but if you just need a simple wireless network to share the Internet access among devices this one can't be...
Pros:
  • Easy set up
  • Very good range
  • Price
  • No problems connecting to other devices
  • The 'cloud' features allow you to view/block connected devices and reboot the router from a website (mydlink.com
Cons:
  • None so far

D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router review

The D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router is a very simple device. It only uses the more congested 2.4GHz band, only has Fast Ethernet ports instead of the faster Gigabit Ethernet ports and doesn't have a USB port to share printers and storage on your network.

Newegg EggXpert Review

Another cool setting is the notifications & there are settings which allow you to be notified via email when either of the following occurs: (a) a new device connects to your router (b) a device FAILS to connect to your router & (c) new firmware is available. C is checked on by default.
Pros:
  • *CONTINUOUS REVIEW FROM PROS TO CONS TO OTHER THOUGHTS
Cons:
  • Next to all the connected devices I mentioned theres an iPhone style switch that allows you to block the internet connection to that device despite it knowing the password to the wifi signal etc.

Mine was faulty

Basic router with added ability to access controls remotely via Web. If you get one that works, it's probably fine but mine would only intermittently 'see' the incoming Internet service coming out of my DSL modem.

D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router

D-Link's DIR-605L Cloud Router, ($40) announced at this year's CES, is not a remarkably noteworthy router. It's notable for what it lacks: It's a single-band, has no Gigabit Ethernet ports, and no USB port. It's also noteworthy for the one new feature it has: D-Link's mydlink cloud service.
Pros:
  • Affordable
  • Remote network management available
Cons:
  • No Gigabit Ethernet
  • So-so performance
  • Unexpected behavior in interface

Big-time set-up hassles

I don't know how long this router sat on the shelf, but as it turns out the firmware was 2 version out-of-date and the router would not connect to the internet until a firmware update was performed.
Pros:
  • Fast Connection Speed
  • Reliable connection
  • Secure Connection
Cons:
  • Difficult To Set Up

Good router let down by it's range...

The title really says it all, it's a Good router let down by it's range. It has a very quick connection "300Mbps" and a consistent signal as long as your in range. It struggles to cover some of my 3 bed semi. Although the placement isn't great, on the floor on the ground floor.
