I use this camera as a baby monitor and it's a pretty good choice for the money. Video quality is pretty good considering the resolution and both iPhone and iPad apps are good. My only issues with it are that the night mode turns on way to early and there is no way to manually turn it on/off. And...

Can be made to work with Linux
I use Linux (Mint 17). I was able establish a wireless connection to my router without much effort. Viewing and recoding was done with VLC and a screen recoding application. This allowed me to use the camera for its intended purpose of confirming that raccoons were trying to establish a latrine near...

Does Not Work With Windows 8
Have searched everywhere to try to make this "simple" installation work. After finding Dlink on facebook they admit they are still working on software that allows you to install the cameras and program on windows 8. I wish I was aware of this before I bought 2 of them..

Very Good but Software Support Essential
Very good at price, but I was first raised bug a few weeks where camera sending emails of images stopped to work properly. Problem was previous firmware had a header format error with date and was rejected by many mail servers. Firmware took a few weeks to update but has now solved problem.

NCIX or D-Link could offer as an accessory the above mentioned DC power extension cable. Would purchase again.
Pros:
- Good quality for the price, especially on their sale price
- Seems to be working fine.
Cons:
- The power cord to the camera could be a little longer
- In some installations a DC power extension cable may be needed.

Good Low Res picture
In general this is a good unit. The picture is adequate to identify people who are in its view. HR quality just takes bandwidth and slows transmission. The big problem is that although it has motion detection, it broadcasts continually, which often is wasteful.
Pros:
- Easy To Set Up
Cons:
- Limited Firmware
- Poor For Survalence
